Gwyneth Paltrow, Sophia Bush Related to Arizona Shooting Victims

As the country continues to grapple with the aftermath of the Tucson, Ariz., shooting spree, actresses Sophia Bush and Gwyneth Paltrow are dealing with family tragedies due to the horrific event, according to E! Online.

Bush's second cousin, 9-year-old Christina Green, was killed Jan. 9 when shots were fired into a crowd gathered for Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' event at a Tucson Safeway.

Green, who was born Sept. 11, 2001, was at Rep. Gifford's event to learn more about politics.

"From the very beginning, she was an amazing child," her mother, Roxanna Green, told The New York Times. "She was very bright, very mature, off the charts. She was the brightest thing that happened that day."

Bush took to her Twitter page to express her sadness at the death of her cousin.

"There are no words to explain what my cousin's family is going through in Arizona," the 'One Tree Hill' star wrote. "How can this be? Violence is never the answer."

Paltrow, a cousin of Rep. Giffords, also released a statement to Entertainment Tonight about the tragedy. Though the actress has never met Giffords, she sent her positive thoughts to her and the rest of the shooting victims.

"Although I have never had the pleasure of meeting Congresswoman Giffords, my thoughts and prayers are with her and her family as well as the other victims of this horrible act of senseless violence," Paltrow wrote.
