The role of Sue Sylvester on "Glee" has brought Jane Lynch unexpected fame and with it a lot of attention. Now, the talented comedian will be putting pen to paper to write about how getting sober and embracing her sexuality helped her find both personal and professional joy.
"I grew up basically with everything handed to me," Jane tells ETonline. "Not my career. I worked for that. I had a good family. I was brought up with a lot of love, but basically I chose time after time after time to suffer over so much. That mental component of suffering is the thing that, I think, if I look back on my life is a choice. Even today, I will choose to angst over something when I really don't have to."
While Jane labels her realization "new age-y and granola-y," the message in her book is going to be to let your life flow.
"What I have come up with is that you really need to trust that you are on your own path and you need to stay true to it and show up," she says. "Showing up is 90 percent of it."
This weekend, like millions of people, Jane will be watching the Super Bowl because "Glee" will be airing immediately following it. She will be rooting for Green Bay because she is from the Midwest, but she says that she doesn't really care which team wins. She is not a big sports fan.
"Football is very masculine and, basically, to me a metaphor for war," she says. "You've got your air game and your ground game. [With this episode of 'Glee'], you've got these light-in-the-loafers guys -- even the straight guys -- singing and dancing and I love seeing these two things coming together."
Jane says in the Super Bowl episode, Sue Sylvester is meaner than ever, but she sure had fun doing it.
"We are doing an episode of 'Glee' that is on steroids and lived large," she says. "Sue Sylvester is a little bored with her routine, even though she has kids riding around on BMX bikes and jumping through fires with Katy Perry's 'California Gurl.' Then, she finds out there is a cannon in town and wants to shoot Britanny out of it. When Principal Figgins doesn't allow it for liability issues, she has two hissy fits where she rips two rooms apart. It is definitely Sue Sylvester on the warpath."
