Minka Kelly was a tad bummed that her 'The Roommate' co-star Leighton Meester got to be the psycho in the equation of their film, but she quickly got over it. "As actors we always want to play someone totally out of our own character," she tells PopEater, adding that Meester was so convincing as an unstable wackjob that she even freaked her out off-set a few times.
The 'Friday Night Lights' stunner, and Derek Jeter dater, reacts with glee to just being cast in the latest TV take on 'Charlie's Angels,' telling us writers are currently crafting her character (tentatively named Eve). While she recoils from talking about her baseballer beau, Kelly let slip that she agrees with most of world's female population, admitting, "Yes, he is adorable."
Will she and Derek watch the Super Bowl? Why does Barbra Streisand make her nervous? Read on.
Loving this movie! Psycho girl movies are so much fun.
Yay! I'm so glad, love it!
It's 'Single White Female' set in college.
There's a whole generation of people who haven't seen it, so I think its perfect timing.
Were you a little disappointed that you didn't get to play the psycho?
At first I was, of course. As actors we always want to play someone totally out of our own character. But as we started working I was so glad that it was Leighton because she did such a great job with it. I was just so excited to watch. For her, I feel like she has such a huge audience and fan base that it will really be fun for all of them to see her do something they've never seen her do. I had such joy working with her, and I was just happy to have the job.
Were you ever creeped out by her on set?
Absolutely! There were so many times on set where in between takes or at lunch she'd give me a look, and I'd think, "Leighton are you in there?"
You just got cast in the new 'Charlie's Angels' TV show. Oh my God.
Right, I know! They're in the process of writing my character right now. I believe my name will be Eve.
You know you're going to have to get into ridiculous shape.
I know. I'm excited. I find out any day now when I start training for it. I cannot wait.
You know it's going to be really intense.
That's exactly how I like it! Unless I have sweat dripping off my chin I'm not satisfied.
They'll probably hire someone like Gunnar Peterson.
He's my trainer! I've actually been working with him for about a year now. I love him. He's the greatest trainer I've ever had, and I've had a lot. He pushes me to the limit, truly.
Ever made you vomit?
No, but he challenges me every day. If I take a deep breath or bend over for a minute because he does push me so hard, he's like, "Do you want a bucket?" I'm like, "You can't get me to throw up." We have a fun rapport. We challenge each other.
What's it like dating the cutest Yankee of all time?
I certainly respect and understand the curiosity and the need to ask that, but we pride ourselves on being so private. And the way we are so private is not talking about it, so I hope you understand.
Got it. But may I just say, well done.
Yes, he is adorable.
And the coolest player ever.
I agree.
So you know about baseball and you know about football because of 'Friday Night Lights.'
It's funny, you'd think I would know all about football, but I'm embarrassed to say I really don't, and that just goes around to the fact that 'Friday Night Lights' is not about football. It's just a backdrop just as 'Grey's Anatomy' is not about the hospital.
So will you watch the Super Bowl?
I don't think I will be. I may go to my girlfriend's little Super Bowl party, but it will be for the food.
I like the ads.
Oh definitely. I'll run back into the TV room for the commercials.
That's what I do!
You and I would be in the kitchen.
Or watching Lifetime.
We would watch a psychological thriller then tune in for the commercials.
Which celebrity would make you tongue-tied if you met?
I would get tongue-tied if I met someone like Bette Midler or Barbra Streisand or someone from 'West Side Story.' My mom loved musicals, so I grew up watching 'The Sound of Music' and 'West Side Story.'
Can you sing?
I wish I could sing. I can sing as long as the radio is on loud enough.
