Ceremony (2011) New Movie Trailer: Latest & Upcoming Movies

Plot

Sam Davis (Michael Angarano) convinces his former best friend to spend a weekend with him to rekindle their friendship at an elegant beachside estate owned by a famous documentary filmmaker (Lee Pace). But it soon becomes clear that Sam is secretly infatuated with the filmmaker's fiancee, Zoe (Uma Thurman), and that his true intention is to thwart their impending nuptials. As Sam's plan begins to unravel, he is forced to realize how complicated love and friendship can be.

On his first trip, Eddie discovers that the drug boosts the intellect, making him far smarter - but also faster, more intuitive, and more charismatic. By warding off sleep and focusing his attention span, Eddie finds that the drug enables him, in a matter of hours, to write a book, learn a foreign language, or predict certain events by detecting patterns in vast amounts of information. What author Glynn has imagined, is the perfect drug for the information age, one that makes its user a match for the ceaseless flow of data from television and newspapers to the Internet rather than being lost in the overload of endless news, history, opinions, and other information.

The Situation Planning to Leave 'Jersey Shore?'

Uh-oh. MTV might soon have themselves a serious 'Situation' on their hands.

According to E! Online, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is hoping to make the journey from Seaside Heights to Hollywood sooner rather than later.

"Hopefully by the end of the year, I'll be in a movie," the 'Jersey Shore' star said. "There's only so long you can rule the reality world."

"Maybe another year or so of reality, and then I'm gonna graduate to movies," the former 'Dancing with the Stars' contestant said. "It's like Michael Jordan. There's only so long you can keep winning them rings."

"You gotta move on and try something different," he continued. "I love to be on camera. I love performing. I love entertaining so movies is definitely the next step."

Hey, I certainly don't doubt the guy. He released a rap song about his famous washboard abs, wrote a book and made an estimated $5 million last year through his show salary, endorsement deals and public appearances. He's also survived three seasons of living with Snooki.

We're clearly buying whatever it is that he's selling, so who's to say he can't conquer the silver screen, too?

James Franco in Early Talks for 'Oz'

Is there anything James Franco can't do?

The 32-year-old isn't just an Academy Award nominated actor, he's the upcoming Oscar host, proven soap star, knockout drag queen, published author and a soon-to-be professor of a class about himself. (Way to make the rest of us feel like underachievers, James.)

And now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the renaissance Hollywood man is in talks to star in 'Oz, the Great and Powerful,' Disney's prequel-like take on 'The Wizard of Oz.'

Robert Downey Jr. was slated to play the character, but that fell through two and a half weeks ago. Then Johnny Depp was up for the elusive part, but the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor passed on the opportunity Thursday night.

And now it looks like it's the former 'Freaks and Geeks' star who's being considered to play the young illusionist bound for the land of Oz.

Sources claim no dealmaking has begun and the casting is far from a done deal. The film 'Oz' doesn't have a start or release date yet, but the production is said to be a high priority for the studio.

Franco is currently nominated for the 'Best Actor' category of the Academy Awards for his role in '127 Hours.' If the guy can convincingly act out amputating his own limb, he can totally pull off the role of being a majestic wizard in-the-making!

Anne Hathaway Needs to Bring the Sexy on Oscar Night

Anne Hathaway has some very important stylistic decisions to make over the next several weeks. As the youngest, sexiest and most overtly feminine host to grace Oscar's stage at the Kodak Theatre, she is entering uncharted sartorial territory.

While her co-host James Franco also skews younger (and yes, sexier) than past Oscar frontmen, he has the stylistic advantage of being a dude, which means he gets to wear a tuxedo. It won't be so easy for Anne.

Past female Oscar hosts Ellen DeGeneres and Whoopi Goldberg, both embraced a more masculine approach to Oscar fashion in muted tones, conservative frocks, tuxedos and suits. Whoopi did take the stage in a showgirl costume at one point during her hosting gig, but that has widely been considered a mistake.

So how can Hathaway channel her youthful sex appeal, while still being taken seriously as the host of the greatest pageant in Hollywood?

As a member of Team Lady, Anne has the advantage of being able to make several costume changes over the course of the evening. Gotham magazine Editor-in-Chief Samantha Yanks featured Hathaway on the mag's December cover and became intimately acquainted with her style sense.

"Anne does not have an allegiance to one designer. We've seen her over the years in some of the most impeccable gowns from Atelier Versace, Marchesa, Armani Prive and Valentino. Hathaway has stayed gorgeous but relatively safe in a sea of golds, silvers and blacks. A punch of color would be nice. We began to see corals and fushcia at the SAG Awards, and I bet we see more of it at the Oscars, potentially on Anne," Yanks says.

Polly Blitzer, editor-in-chief of Beauty Blitz Media, says the pressure on Anne for Oscar night is threefold. Physically she has to look immaculate, comically her timing has to be impeccable and most importantly, her wardrobe needs to be irreverent but not over the top.

"She should definitely bring on the sexpot in at least one look. Go uber-elaborate for another and cross-dressing wouldn't hurt," Blitzer tells us.

It is pretty much guaranteed that Anne will rock a sexy suit or tux at some point to pay homage to her predecessors, both male and female.

"I'd love to see her start as masculine as she can and then stripe down into something racy!" says celebrity stylist June Ambrose.

Of course this sets up a separate quandary: Can a woman be both sexy and funny at the same time?

"I definitely think women can be funny and sexy at the same time. It's even better if she can make jokes about her boobs," says The Gloss Editor-in-Chief Lilit Marcus.

Wardrobe choices aside for the moment, Anne faces another dilemma not often thrust upon an Oscar host: How should she wear her hair. Hathaway has a lot of it, and it is very pretty, but what should she do?

"Her signature classic blow out with a side part will most likely make an appearance at the Oscars, but it would be awesome to see her ditch her classic look for something super sexy like beachy waves a la Victoria's Secret," says Blow NYC stylist Naeemah Carre. "I'd also love for Anne to bring back some the old Hollywood flair ... the days where every single hair was in place! A gorgeous sleek structured updo that is more formal than the loose chignons that we are seeing all over the red carpet."

Lock & Mane Creative Director Jackie Cascarano disagrees. She wants to see Anne's hair long and loose.

"We would love to see her with a relaxed and loose style at the Oscars. Overly structured updos for young women can often look too austere. I envision her with retro glam, sophisticated Veronica Lake waves for Oscar night," Cascarano says.

The stylistas have spoken -- Anne shouldn't be afraid to bring the sexy on Oscar night.

Will Justin Bieber Make a Surprise Appearance on 'Saturday Night Live?'

Those folks in Studio 8H are really outdoing themselves. Last week 'Saturday Night Live' had a "surprise" visit from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, and now there are rumors of a Justin Bieber appearance on this Saturday's show!

Reuters reports that the 16-year-old wunderkind is scheduled to make an impromptu 'SNL' appearance this weekend to promote his new film 'Never Say Never.' The Biebs is no stranger to the legendary sketch comedy show. He was the musical guest in April 2010, performing two songs and appearing in two sketches alongside guest host Tina Fey.

Thursday night, Justin hilariously traded places with 'The Daily Show' host Jon Stewart. In a spoof where the two switched bodies 'Freaky Friday' style, the Biebs took the liberty of tattooing a 'Never Say Never' hash-tag on the political satirist's lower back.

Justin Bieber's 'Never Say Never' 3-D Movie is Uplifting Even to 'Non-Beliebers'

It's easy to laugh off Bieber Fever. It only takes a shake of that perfectly side-swept mane to send teenage girls into hysterics. But in Justin Bieber's 3-D movie 'Never Say Never,' even the non-Beliebers among us will appreciate the heart and hard work that's gone into making the 16-year-old heartthrob into a worldwide phenomenon.

The could-be-boy-bander's musical aptitude is often glossed over by the media, but in the film we see the real talent that launched his career. Home movies of Justin at age 3, rhythmically keeping the beat and drumming to the delight of his mom's 20-something friends, add some intimacy to the epic production. More family footage showcases his flourishing musical skills, showing a young Bieber performing at local talent shows and picking up a multitude of new instruments at his church. The kid proves he was launched by his voice and musical abilities, and he wasn't another mediocre-sounding youngster put in a pretty package and sold by Disney.

'Never Say Never' leads up to Justin's first headlining performance at Madison Square Garden, and the audience gets to know the wunderkind's real and extended families. We meet Pattie Mallette, the single mother who became pregnant with Justin when she was only 18, and the endearing, small town grandparents who helped raise the Canadian sensation.

We also get to know Scooter Braun, the now 29-year-old manager who happened upon a then-12-year-old Bieber's soulful living room performances on YouTube back in 2007. Scooter clearly cares about Justin on a personal level, and worries about preserving his childhood and helping him grow up to be "a good man." But when it's time to get down to business, Scooter plays disciplinarian and is described by Justin as "the dad" of his multi-person tour company.

It's fascinating to see how much hard work Justin and the seemingly down-to-earth cast of characters working with the teen idol put into making and maintaining him as a star. Sure, now the kid can bat his eyelashes and shut down Times Square, but he sang for all the tiny town DJs who would listen, break danced for any water parks that would have him and broke hearts in middle school auditoriums across the country long before the world came to know him as a star. And as frustrating as it was for the typically impatient teen, neither he nor his team gave up when things didn't come easy.

'Never Say Never' is really the first feature to really explore fame in the 21st century. It combats the notion that the constant connectivity that comes with the Internet overexposes a star. On the contrary, new technology (YouTube, Twitter, Facebook) is precisely what has made Justin the huge, modern-day celebrity he is today.

So whether you're an avid fan or a cynical non-Belieber, 'Never Say Never' is an insightful, uplifting look at the world's biggest teen phenomenon. The film opens nationwide Feb. 11, just in time for millions of adoring young ladies to spent some quality time with the Biebs in theaters on Valentine's Day.

Jaime Pressly Denies Drunk Driving Charges

Jaime Pressly might have had a blood alcohol level that was more than three times the legal limit in California, but that doesn't mean the actress is admitting to driving under the influence.

The former 'My Name is Earl' star is pleading not guilty to drunken driving charges resulting from her Jan. 5 arrest. The 33-year-old was stopped for a traffic violation while driving in Santa Monica around 11PM. She then failed a field sobriety test and registered a BAC of 0.22. Pressly was later released from jail after posting $15,000 bail.

Later on in January, she filed for divorce from Simran Singh, her husband of 16 months. Shortly thereafter, a custody battle with her former-fiance DJ Eric Cubiche began to heat up. The two have a 3-year-old son named Dezi. Cubiche's mother said "Jaime and Eric have always had a nice relationship when it comes to my grandson Dezi, but that could change. My son remains focused on Dezi. We're very protective of (him) and want nothing but the best for that precious boy."

Court records show that Pressly was ordered by a judge to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings at least twice a week. But despite that order and a formal DUI charge earlier this week, the actress was still slated to headline for two night club events in Vegas.

She has since backed out of these club appearances.

Pressly's next DUI hearing is set for March 18. If convicted, the star could face up to six months behind bars. She also faces close to $600,000 in tax liens from the IRS.

What's the True History Behind 'The King's Speech'?

They say truth can be stranger than fiction, but that seldom stops Hollywood from adding an embellishment or two when it comes to transferring truth to the big screen. Films purportedly "based on a true story" (or bearing the even murkier "inspired by true events") tread treacherous ground with film buffs, historians and purists. How far can artistic license stretch for the sake of entertainment? Do we eschew the nitpicky details of historical accuracy in favor of a good movie, or should filmmakers be beholden to every detail, regardless of how it paints their characters?

'The King's Speech' is the latest project to stir up such a debate (just in time for an Oscar smear campaign, the cynics among us note). The film leads the Oscar race with 12 nominations, and with increasing regularity, critics have been crawling out of the woodwork to point out the film's numerous historical inaccuracies, from Slate and The Daily Beast to The Wrap. But how much of 'The King's Speech' is fact and how much is fiction? And does it really matter anyway? Read Moviefone's thorough investigation after the jump.

Directed by Tom Hooper, 'The King's Speech' centers around Prince Albert (known as Bertie to his family, played by Colin Firth), a man who suffers from a debilitating stutter. Since the impediment hinders him from executing his royal duties -- namely giving rousing speeches and mingling with the commoners -- his wife, Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter), enlists the help of an unorthodox Australian speech therapist named Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush), who helps the future king overcome his insecurities and speak without fear. The task becomes even more pressing once Bertie's brother, King Edward VIII (Guy Pearce), abdicates the throne to marry an American divorcée, leaving Bertie to bear the crown and the responsibility of boosting the country's morale while Britain is on the brink of war with Hitler.

It's all very rousing and inspiring stuff -- the film's tagline is "Find your voice," after all -- much more uplifting than the backstabbing and money-grabbing machinations of 'The Social Network,' which has also been criticized for its factual inaccuracies. But the consensus seems split on just how much of the historical drama in 'The King's Speech' is historically sound and, for that matter, whether historical accuracy is even that important when it comes to telling a rollicking good yarn to entertain the masses.

Allow us to present a number of the film's most prominent facts and fictions, character by character, to figure out what Hooper and 'King's Speech' scribe David Seidler got right and what they, perhaps deliberately, got wrong.

King George VI
Played with pathos and charm by Colin Firth, Bertie is seen as a shy, retiring chap, albeit one who has legendary fits of temper. Still, he's our hero, which in Hollywood terms necessitates that he's sympathetic (if not perfect), with a relatable journey and, if at all possible, a happy ending. On that count, 'The King's Speech' ticks all the boxes.

Facts:
Rumors of George VI's tortured upbringing weren't exaggerated: In addition to the stutter he developed as a child, though left-handed, the poor moppet was forced to write right-handed, and suffered the indignity of corrective leg splints to cure his knock knees. His fondness for smoking was accurately portrayed, too; he developed lung cancer in later life. It's also fair to say that Bertie was an extremely reluctant king. If anything, the movie may have downplayed that fact: Bertie was said to have gone to his mother, Queen Mary, the day before his brother's abdication, and later wrote in his diary that he "sobbed like a child" in her arms after telling her that he was to assume the throne.

His parents were fairly portrayed as distant, as was customary with upper-crust families of the time, with Bertie's father, King George V, once saying of his sons, "My father was scared of his father, I was scared of my father and I'm damned well going to see that they're scared of me." Bertie was known for his short fuse, as demonstrated by his many arguments and impatient outbursts with Logue in the film, though the filmmakers widely steered clear of rumors that he sometimes struck his wife in his temper; true or not, to publicize the king's less savory characteristics would have undermined the central message of the film, which was framed as a tale of overcoming adversity, not a biopic of Bertie's character.

Fiction:
The most prominent and widely criticized fiction within the film concerns Bertie's political affiliation. While 'The King's Speech' is at pains to portray the king as having a close and amicable relationship with Winston Churchill from the outset, in actuality Bertie and his wife were staunch supporters of the previous Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain, and advocated his policy of appeasement (often defined as the practice of compromising and negotiating with a political adversary in an effort to avoid going to war) in regards to Hitler. They even went so far as to present Chamberlain on the balcony at Buckingham Palace following his controversial negotiation of the Munich Agreement, which handed over the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia to Nazi Germany. This was unheard of at the time since balcony appearances were traditionally reserved for members of the royal family alone. It's worth noting that appeasement was a favored position in much of Britain, since the country was still reeling from the losses of World War I and was in no hurry to charge back into battle and bloodshed.

Churchill, on the other hand, was firm friends with Bertie's brother, Edward VIII, and advised him against his decision to abdicate in order to marry Wallis Simpson. When Chamberlain resigned as PM, Bertie trumpeted another politician who favored appeasement, Lord Halifax, over Churchill (who, despite his bizarre loyalty to Edward, a known Nazi sympathizer, was one of the few politicians of the time who advocated going to war against Hitler) but was overruled. Still, the two did become close friends during the war, taking weekly meetings together and building what was purported to be "the closest personal relationship in modern British history between a monarch and a Prime Minister."

Another favored gripe from critics points out that physically, Firth bears little resemblance to the monarch he portrayed. George VI was seen as weak and weedy because of his various ailments, and was often described as a nitwit. (Hitler himself reportedly dismissed George VI as "a simpleton.") We spoke to historian and biographer Mary S. Lovell -- whose biography on the Churchills will be released in May -- regarding Firth's performance: "Physically, he has no resemblance whatever to King George VI, and there are still plenty of people around who remember the king very well (including me), who were prepared to be ultra critical," she said. "The fact that Firth is so believable in 'The King's Speech' indicates a truly great acting ability."

We're prepared to cede to artistic license here -- we can't imagine anyone playing George VI with quite as much aplomb as Firth. And though Bertie reportedly finished last in his final exams at Naval college, one doesn't necessarily have to be a genius (nor was Bertie really portrayed as one in the film) to be an inspiring figure.

The Stutter
We know it's not technically a character, but considering what an integral part of the tale Bertie's impediment is, we'd be remiss if we didn't tackle the facts and fiction behind it.

Facts:
Although many critics deride the film for inaccurately portraying the severity of the king's stammer (Andrew Roberts at The Daily Beast insists, "his stutter wasn't anything like as bad as the film depicts. In fact, it was relatively mild, and when he was concentrating hard on what he was saying it disappeared altogether"), there is little evidence to prove this, since according to director Tom Hooper, there are no known recordings of the king speaking available from the time before he started working with Lionel Logue in 1926. We know that the king "successfully" gave the opening address to the Australian Parliament in Canberra in 1927, but that doesn't mean it was free from error. Bertie's 1925 speech at the British Empire exhibition at Wembley, which opens the film, has been described in various publications as "humiliating," "disastrous" and "painful," which was certainly how it was depicted in 'TKS.' Even in rare archive footage of a speech given at the Scottish Empire Exhibition in Glasgow, 1938 (often mistakenly labeled as the Wembley speech) signs of Bertie's impediment are still evident in his long pauses and stumbling speech, even after a decade of working with Logue.

Hooper admitted in an interview with the Guardian newspaper that he and Firth decided to portray the king stammering on practically every line to make sure that the stakes seemed high. "The film's structure is slight. Our constant fear was that the climax would not be climactic enough. But here is something Colin doesn't understand. On the first day of shooting, I had an extraordinary experience. We had to set the level of the stammer. When I pushed Colin toward making his stammer more severe, I was profoundly moved. It was intensely dramatic and powerful. I knew we were not running the risks we had envisaged." Despite this, Hooper stands by the portrayal, saying that he did believe that Bertie's stutter was as calamitous as it was depicted.

Fiction:
One thing we do know that the movie got wrong, however, was the age at which Bertie's stutter manifested itself; in the script, the king admits that he developed the affliction young, around 4 or 5 years old, when in actuality it appeared around the time he was 8. Also not so true: that Bertie practiced with a mouthful of marbles as a potential cure -- that was apparently straight out of 'My Fair Lady.'

Lionel Logue
Charmingly portrayed by Geoffrey Rush, Logue is perhaps the most likable member of the cast, one who didn't need too many tweaks for the sake of drama.

Facts: Logue was indeed Australian, taught acting and elocution in Perth, and certainly did work with war veterans whose shell-shock and PTSD had left them with speech impediments, before coming to Britain. He opened his Harley Street practice in 1926, which was where Elizabeth found him and enlisted his services to help Bertie.

Fiction: The main fiction of the film regards exactly when Logue and the king met, which was in 1926, after Bertie's disastrous speech at Wembley. But in the movie's narrative, their meeting is postponed until the late 1930s. Some critics say that Logue's relationship with the King is vastly overstated, although recently discovered letters from Bertie's wife, Elizabeth, to Logue, paint a different story.

Listen to a recording of the king's actual speech announcing the beginning of the war, which was recreated at the culmination of the film, below:
The most important factor in regarding the accuracy of 'The King's Speech' is to remember that a movie is, first and foremost, designed to entertain, which, according to the film's critical and box office success, it has managed in spades. Were the film a documentary, I could concede to its detractors. But if audience members are taking history lessons from the movies, they're liable to believe that Forrest Gump met JFK and that Obama is only the latest in a long line of black presidents, coming behind Morgan Freeman and Tom Lister Jr. While we must be wary of taking historical movies as gospel, there's certainly something to be said for films that are prepared to brave the tightrope of accuracy versus enjoyment to bring previously untold stories to the screen.

Tara Reid Announces Role in 'Big Lebowski 2,' Much to Coen Brothers' Surprise

Tara Reid's career is hitting new highs, starring in two upcoming movies, in addition to adding a producer credit to her resume.

The surprising part of her story isn't her phoenix-like rise from the ashes of her career, but the reprisal of one of her greatest roles to date.

According to E! Online, the actress said of her busy year, "I have a movie coming out called 'The Fields.' I have another one coming out that I produced with my brother called 'The Irishman,' and we'll be doing 'American Pie 4' this year and 'Big Lebowski 2' this year."

However, the reprisal of her famous role as Bunny Lebowski comes as a surprise not only to fans, but to the Coen brothers, who wrote, directed and produced the original, and have no plans for a sequel.

Reid's rep told Entertainment Weekly of the actress's gaffe, "She heard Jeff Bridges say that he wanted to make 'Big Lebowski 2' and have all the original cast members in it, so she may have misspoke, thinking that included her based on what Jeff said."

The Coen brothers aren't quite so concerned about Reid's confusion, however. "I'm glad she's working on it," Ethan Coen told reporters. "We'll watch it when it comes out."

'Housewives' Insider: Bravo 'Jumped the Gun' on Rushing Premiere of 'NYC'

EXCLUSIVE: Bravo set off a chorus of speculation on Wednesday when they announced that the premiere of one of their 'Housewives' franchises would be delayed in order to debut another. The cable network shocked fans and members of the cast when they said 'The Real Housewives of New York City' will not be hitting TV screens on Feb. 15, but instead will be pushed to March or April.

While it would seem Bravo wants to give their newest entry, 'RHO Miami,' which debuts Feb. 22, some time to shine, various reports floating around allege that Bravo was "a little worried" about the final product and that they thought the show "needs a lot of work and editing."

But a source with direct knowledge of the situation tells PopEater that it's far less scandalous than that. In previous seasons, there has always been a several-month break between the end of filming and the actual debut on Bravo. Normally, the lag hovers around three months, but sources tell us shooting for season four did not end until late January, making a Feb. 15 start date a bit unrealistic.

"It was very surprising when Bravo jumped the gun back in December and announced a mid-February premiere date," admits our source.

Now, with it pushed back to the spring (sources tell us it'll start in the first two weeks of April), the production schedule now falls in line with previous years with it premiering about three months after filming finished.

We're told that several members of the cast were "shocked" by the announcement, which reached them in an internal memo by Bravo executive vice president Andy Cohen. It said that they wanted "more time to make the show as GREAT and as big a hit as possible."

A press release emerged a few hours later announcing the premiere of the oft-delayed 'Miami' and the bumping of 'NYC.'

Cohen quickly tried to quiet the storm by releasing his own statement about the moves, saying he thought there was enough TV heat for both shows.

"No conspiracy here folks. We have an embarrassment of riches with Miami and New York and I assure you that the 'Real Housewives of NYC' will be well worth the wait and the 'Real Housewives of Miami' is hot, hot, hot," said Cohen. "Heaven knows we could use a bit of heat on the East Coast about right now."

Several cast members turned down our requests for comment on the moves, but Simon van Kempen, Alex McCord's husband, tells PopEater exclusively that he isn't worried about the quality of the show -- or the loss of one of its biggest stars.

"Having done the show for four seasons I am confident that this latest season is our best yet," he said. "Bethenny Frankel has moved on to her own show, and as other franchises have shown, the loss of one cast member has never affected how great they've been and our season four will be no different. I know that this season will rock!"

A friend of the departed Bethenny had a different take, telling PopEater's Naughty But Nice columnist Rob Shuter, "Without Bethenny the show doesn't work. It needs a lot of work."

'Sanctum' Star Rhys Wakefield: James Cameron Actually An 'Amazing Mentor'

Australians are taking over Hollywood, and Rhys Wakefield gets it. The 22-year-old Aussie newcomer stars in this weekend's big release, 'Sanctum,' a James Cameron-executive produced underwater thriller. Yet in spite of the stardom that can befall an unknown Australian actor in a James Cameron 3-D project, Wakefield's not ready to annoint himself the next Sam Worthington.

"Heh. I don't know," he tells PopEater. "It's kind of hard to tell what will happen. Who knows? I really just feel like a kid from the suburbs of Sydney, Australia, and somehow I ended up here in LA. I'm looking at the Hollywood sign right now, actually -- I'm at the Four Seasons -– and it's such a weird thing. So I don't know what to say to that. Whatever. We'll see what happens."

Read our full interview, touching on all the bases -- Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger, James Cameron -- after the jump.

Rhys comes across like a young man with a good head on his shoulders. Can we set up a defensive perimeter around him as part of a Charlie Sheen prevention system? It's bad enough he's been in close proximity to fellow Aussie Mel Gibson of late, at a Hollywood house party.

"I didn't meet him," Rhys clarifies. "I just saw him at the party. But it's an interesting thing. I saw Sylvester Stallone the other night out somewhere. He was getting paparazzi'd everywhere, and security guards were all over the place, and he was swatting cameras away, and they were holding back fans and people who all wanted to have a piece of him. It's weird. But I think it's just keeping that balance between your private self and your public self."

Adorable, right? It's like he's never heard of TMZ before. Here's the rest of our chat:

I guess you're no longer in Kansas, mate. Or should I say Oz?
[Laughs] Yeah, at this party Friday night, I was literally bumping into John Travolta. Anne Hathawaywas there, Sacha Baron Cohen, Sarah Silverman. All these amazing people.

Any Oscar nominees?
I actually met, or briefly met, Helena Bonham Carter in the elevator one day, which was quite a head spin. I was with a friend, and we tried to play it really cool and then afterward we were just too excited. It was pretty funny.

Some British and Australian actors seem to react particularly strongly to the American media's intrusion into their personal lives -- Russell Crowe, Christian Bale, so on. Do you fit into that intensely private mold?
I get terrified by the idea of the red carpet -- and I do like my privacy. But I just think it's a funny balance. You have to be grateful for the people in your world who are fans.

I see you have a fan site called Charming Rhys. Have you been on it?
Actually, no. I've heard about it. Bizarre. I heard there was pictures of my family on the website, which is really strange. I mean, I see it in one sense. It's flattering that someone is taking the time out of their own lives to do something like that.
You got your start on the popular Australian show 'Home and Away.' That's also where Heath Ledger got his start. Was he somebody you looked up to? Do you have a personal connection?
I have a lot of mutual friends with Heath. I always admired his career, even before I got into acting. He paved the way for young Australian actors, I think. For me, anyway, 'cause he was part of my whole moviegoing generation. I saw every movie of his and could watch him grow on screen as an actor and as a person. I think he's a brilliant actor -- is and was. It's a tragedy.

Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the upcoming Marvel Comics adaptations of 'Thor' and 'The Avengers,' worked with you on 'Home and Away.' Did you guys make a secret pact back then to take over Hollywood?
[Laughs] It's a very, very strange thing. I bumped into Chris last year at the GQ Awards, and we were having a good laugh about how far we were from the green room at 'Home and Away.' I mean, it's all very surreal. We joked about how when I was first coming out to LA and Hollywood and he was trying to help me just find a place to live. You never expect what's going to happen.

What is it about Hemsworth that you think would make him a good Thor?
It's actually pretty funny -- back at 'Home and Away,' we gave him the nickname The Hammer. Hemsworth is such a big dude. This massive bloke, this Aussie macho man. So I think it's perfect he's Thor.

Might you one day yourself put on the cape and tights?
As a kid I was obsessed with the idea of being a superhero. In my naïve mind, it seemed obvious that the closest thing to being one was playing one. That was my logic as a kid, so I started taking acting classes. It feels like I've been pretending and playing ever since.

How ready were you for the extreme physical training you went through preparing for your 'Sanctum' role as a cave diver?
The preparation leading up to the shoot was quite an ordeal. Very intensive. I was required to learn scuba-diving, rock-climbing, ropes-training and a bunch of other crazy things. I was doing two hours of swim training a day, doing breath-holds to enhance my lung capacity, and on top of that I was hitting the gym five times a week just to bulk up for the role.

Where did you train?
In parts of Sydney and the Gold Coast, where we shot the film.

The co-writer on the film, John Garvin, also supervised your underwater training. How did that go?
Well, John Garvin, who is this big diving enthusiast, actually wrote one of the key handbooks on re-breathers, which is this technology that cave divers use in order to stay under water for a long time. It recycles the air exhaled by the diver through a loop. I mean, this apparatus allows a diver to stay under for 24 to 48 hours without coming up. Garvin did an amazing job teaching me how to use this quite advanced technology in a very short amount of time.

For the most part, the cast did much of their own stunts. What precautions did the producers take to make sure that nobody, you know, drowned?
We all had safety drivers. There's a lot of trust that goes into working with the safety diver. Especially, there's a portion of the film where I'm holding my breath and I have no mouth piece or regulator. I don't even have a mask or goggles on. I'm basically swimming blind in the dark with no air. You just have so much trust in the safety diver. The second they yell cut you reach out and expect to have your air source in your hand and mouth within seconds.

Did you ever have that moment of panic?
I did have one moment of panic actually where for some reason my ear started to ache. You know when you equalize or pressurize your ears and you pop them? I think I did it too hard and something popped, and my ear was aching and getting worse and worse. I kind of panicked a bit, and I didn't have any regulator or mask on. So I started swimming around and then there was rocks everywhere and so my safety diver guided me out, and I just took a little a breather after that. And then went down and did it again.

How often did James Cameron visit the set in Australia?
Just once. Before we started shooting at night, he came down to check things out. The set was incredible. They sunk these huge rock faces into this massive water tank that was eight to 10 meters deep. It was like a real cave. His eyes just lit up -- the exploration, the sense of adventure. It's all riveting to him. I heard he spent more time around the 'Titanic' than the captain of ship did. So that's an amazing thing.

Did you get to know Cameron personally?
I've been back and forth to LA since the shoot and hung out with him, and I got to see the film for the first time with him. That was quite an experience. But he's a great guy. Obviously, so intelligent, so meticulous. It's really interesting just picking his brain. Just chatting with him. He's like a boy. He has the imagination of a kid. But with the resources and intelligence to make it all a reality.

Did he give you any advice about navigating the wild-and-woolly Hollywood scene?
He did. He gave me some career advice. He told me where he saw my career heading. He gave me a lot of advice about media and publicity and certain ways to get out of situations.

Can you share some words of wisdom that Cameron gave you?
Oh, you know, there's been many pieces of advice. The great thing he said to me was, any favor that I ever need in Hollywood, any introduction, any call, he told me to give him a call, let him know and he'll make it happen.

That's a nice weapon to have.
He's been just an amazing mentor. Always so positive.

I've got my headline. Rhys Wakefield: 'James Cameron Isn't A Megalomaniacal Jerkface.'
He's actually a very kind and generous person.

Holly Madison Says No Thanks to Hefner's Wedding

Holly Madison, who spent six years as one-third of Hugh Hefner's harem of girlfriends, has not been coy about her distaste for his engagement to fellow Playboy model, Crystal Harris. Remember when she told Life & Style that Hef was making a "hasty decision"? The 'Holly's World' beauty has made up her mind, though, telling me on my HDNet show that even if she's invited, she's not going to that wedding.

"I feel like the attention should be on them," Holly tells me. "It shouldn't be about ex-girlfriends showing up and what are their reactions and stuff like that. I think it should be about them."

Holly let slip that Hef and Crystal are thinking about tying the knot this summer. She says that if she doesn't go, "It's probably because I have a show in Vegas." Smart girl!

Since Hef announced the engagement, Holly met up with the pair in early January for a taped segment for her hit E! show, which is back for season two. The encounter was "definitely awkward," and even though a month has passed she's still cautious about saying positive things about the next Mrs. Hefner.

"I don't really know her," she tells me. "I'm just really protective and want to make sure he's making the right choices."

One thing she's not unsure about is 'Holly's World,' which follows the bombshell and her friends as they live, work and love in Las Vegas. It airs Sundays at 10:30PM on E!, but if you want to watch more of my interview with Holly and find out what really happens at the Playboy Mansion, tune in 'Naughty But Nice With Rob' on Saturday at 1PM or 7PM, exclusively on HDNet.

Looking for 'Jersey Shore' and 'Skins' Buzz? Add Sex and Scandal to These Five Shows

MTV is already having a busy 2011 with two hit shows dominating the press. 'Jersey Shore' keepssmashing the ratings because people can't resist the cast's alcoholic antics and fist fights. And although 'Skins' is receiving mixed reviews, the show is making a name for itself by being accused of violating child pornography laws and being dubbed "the most dangerous show for teens" by the Parents Television Council.

People are tuning in to these two controversial shows in record numbers, and we think we've got the formula figured out: young people + drugs + sex + fighting = epic TV. So why don't more producers take a page from the 'Jersey Shore' and 'Skins' playbook by adding scandalous twists to their shows? Sure, they might start to lose advertisers left and right, but let's not think so negatively. We've taken the liberty of giving five shows the 'Skins' and 'Jersey Shore' treatment to make them must-watch TV. Dear networks: You can thank us later.

'Real World/Road Rules Challenge: New Jersey'
The umpteenth season of 'The Challenge' takes place in Seaside Heights, N.J., instead of the usual exotic paradise. Contestants are supplied with an unlimited amount of booze, but rather than endurance and strength competitions, the RW/RR alums participate in Jersey-centric challenges. Men compete to see how many grenades they can tolerate ... er, courting ... before tapping out. The guy smooshed by the most grenades wins the Juicehead Idol and is safe from elimination, while the remaining contestants enter a fist pumping dance-off. The first one to spill a drink on the dance floor gets sent home.

'Reality Celebrity Death Match'
Revamped for 2011, this MTV classic ditches the claymation and uses real -- really real, like, reality TV real -- people. The series pins ex-reality TV rivals in cage matches to the death, mainly because they're the only celebrities desperate enough to risk death for another 15 minutes of fame. The winner not only gets to live, but also gets to stay famous for, like, five more seconds. Hey, if ancient Rome could get away with it, so can we!

'Extreme Makeover: Skins Edition'
'Skins' creator Bryan Elsley surprises one super-nerdy teen each week and makes them over to be as cool as the cast of 'Skins.' The actors teach that lucky teen how to do drugs, be promiscuous, dress like a blind hobo and successfully evade parents, teachers and all kinds of authority while going to crazy raves in abandoned warehouses. By the end of the week, the teen will become an apathetic, drug-addicted sex machine, and will automatically be the most popular kid at his or her school because of it. Elsley and the cast chant "Move that ounce!" while the newly "Skinned" teen tries to sell drugs to the hundreds of neighborhood folk who came out to see Ty Pennington, not realizing it wasn't that 'Extreme Makeover.'

'So You Think You Can Smoosh'
Imagine 'So You Think You Can Dance' but, y'know, with smooshing. Snooki and the kid from 'Skins' with the limecat haircut will host, and the audition episodes alone will break industry records.

'MADE: Teen Mom'
This all-MTV crossover show chronicles the 30-day transformation of girls who are mere 'Teen Mom' hopefuls to full-on pregnant teens! They receive a crash course in underage baby-making from coaches and 'Teen Mom' alums Farrah and Amber. We get to watch as these girls get put to the test, slutting it up for boys at their high school under the watchful eyes of their expert mentors. If the girls' progress doesn't seem to be going fast enough, the 'MADE' coaches go to extremes, like poking holes in condoms or getting the girls really, really drunk at house parties. At the end of the 30 days, the ladies who end up pregnant are automatically guaranteed a spot on the newest season of '16 and Pregnant' or 'Teen Mom,' depending on how far along they are when the shows start taping.

John Mayer Can't Escape Hecklers Over Jennifer Aniston Split

Once a bad boy, always a bad boy? John Mayer certainly hopes not. The singer, who famously dumped Jennifer Aniston and countless Hollywood sweethearts, still can't seem to escape angered fans and is taking steps to change his image, according to Us Weekly.

A source, who recently spent time with the singer, said people still randomly come up to Mayer to express their displeasure with his actions, especially regarding the press conference he called to discuss his breakup with Aniston.

"Girls came up and yelled at him, saying he was a horrible person," the source said. "Girls asked how he could treat women the way he did. People would tell him exactly what they thought of him."

Mayer, who also onced called singer and ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson "sexual napalm," is reportedly tired of his playboy persona and wants to revamp his image.

The insider claims the singer wants "a new team to manage his image" and that "he wants to change people's perspective on him."

We'll believe it when we see it.

Gwyneth Paltrow's Mom Tells Daughter to 'Take Care' of Herself

Gwyneth Paltrow is everywhere these days: 'Glee,' 'Country Strong' and even 'Saturday Night Live.' Up next are performances at the Grammys and Academy Awards. She's a busy woman, for sure, but there's one person who worries she's trying to take on too much all at once: her mom, actress Blythe Danner.

"She's a multitasker," Danner told E! News. "We had dinner last night, and I said, 'Honey, please, it's great that you multitask, but it's a lot of stress to do that, and I want you to take care of yourself. You've just got to.'"

One source of stress for the actress: performing her 'Country Strong' song 'Coming Home' at the Oscars, where the song is up for one of those golden statues.

"She was nervous when she performed at the Country Music Awards, but once she got into it, she was fine," Danner said of her multitalented daughter. "They stood up -- these 2,500 professionals! She's singing in front of the industry, and she got a standing ovation. I was thrilled for her. She loved it."

While Paltrow may be a busy bee these days, Danner isn't taking it so slow herself. Her new film, 'Waiting For Forever,' hits theaters today, and she recently wrapped 'The Lucky One' with co-star Zac Efron.

'Private Practice' Star Kate Walsh Launches 'Boyfriend' Fragrance

"It's so sexy and romantic," Kate Walsh told StyleList about her Boyfriend fragrance collection at Sephora SoHo in New York on Wednesday.

The masculine and feminine scent was created after the demise of a relationship. "A long time ago, my boyfriend and I had broken up and I missed him, I miss that scent, I miss that feeling."

Walsh continued, "What I think I really miss is trying to encapsulate that worn-in, kind of, little bit of boyfriend smell on your shirt or on his shirt." The 'Private Practice' star realized she didn't need a man to satisfy her olfactory yearnings: "I was like, oh F it! I don't have to have a boyfriend to have that boyfriend fragrance. I was like, ding-ding, boyfriend! What a great idea for a fragrance!"

Walsh also talked about about working on the package design and branding imagery. "Isn't the bottle cool? Part of what I wanted to give women was a stylish, beautiful piece. As a little girl, I remember looking at perfume bottles as they're like little pieces of jewelry. I love the classic Chanel shape so I wanted to keep it classic but kind of modern still."

Male monikers including Sebastian, Michael and Kevin decorate the products. "I love the idea of the names on the back, being able to have all the names written down. And so we came up with that and put that on the back so we could see it. It's translucent, and you can see that shadow of all the names."

The 43-year-old also described the reptilian touch on the bottle. "We wanted a collar and I wanted that whole look of luxe but accessible and affordable. So we did a faux croc skin around."

The collection includes a $95 Boyfriend Kit, sold exclusively at Sephora. Walsh said, "I had this whole idea of a train case, a vintage train case. Glamour, old-school Hollywood. I love the romance of opening up a train case. Like a treasure box and inside this treasure box, you get these five items. Mini EDP (eau de parfum), a mini pulse-point oil, a little candle, a little body cream and a dry body oil spray, which I love. I wanted to make it affordable, portable, accessible but super chic."

Walsh continued, "You got that boyfriend feeling wherever you go. What did it for me was my bag is a mobile office. So I always have a body cream in there. I have an oil. I've got this, I've got that. So I was like, what if we put in a cute little case? I wanted the case to be not just a promotional kit. You can reuse it. We designed it and this was exclusive to Sephora. It's very kind of kitsch. It's got all the colors. It's really bright with a Lucite handle. When you take the platform out, with all the product, there's a mirror inside, with all the boyfriend names repeated, you could use it as a bag."

The actress clad in a Ferragamo dress, Jimmy Choo heels and Anita Ko jewelry pointed out additional benefits: "All the fragrances, it's all the same boyfriend fragrance, but they layer together and they're all slightly different. For instance, the body cream is a little more gourmand, it's a little more coconut in it, you'll feel it. The pulse-point oil is slightly different than the EDP. It's all the same base notes, but they're just a little bit different in substance. They layer together beautifully or wear individually."

The best part of wearing the blend of woods and florals in Boyfriend? Walsh told StyleList, "It just makes you feel good. It's the same thing about how you feel when you're wearing his shirt or jeans. You feel safe and protected."

Hugh Jackman Packs on '6,000 Calories a Day' for Role

Hugh Jackman's diet these days is rivaling that of an Olympic athlete -- and it's all for an upcoming flick, according to the LA Times. Director Darren Aronofsky has reportedly asked the actor to bulk up for the next installment of 'Wolverine.'

"Right now, I'm at 210 [pounds]," Jackman said. "I was at 190 ... and [Aronofsky] said with the last one, 'Hey you looked great, but you're so tall that in those long shots you looked kind of like Clint Eastwood, and that's not Wolverine.'"

This isn't the first time the director has asked an actor to extremely alter his or her weight for a role. He recently had Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis shed a whopping 20 pounds for their roles in 'Black Swan.' But for his new role, Jackman needed to pack on every pound he could.

"[Aronofsky] said that Wolverine, in the comics, is powerful, stocky, you know, he's short and thick. So he said, 'I want you to go there, get bigger,'" Jackman said, adding that his new diet isn't easy. "It's 6,000 calories a day, it's rough."

The actor claims he's going for a "bulldog" look to accompany his Wolverine character, referencing boxer Mike Tyson as inspiration.

"Sometimes [Tyson] was a full foot shorter than his opponents and bent over [with this] massive build ... There's real power," he said, joking that this role may not be best for his health. "If I have a massive heart attack first, well, you tell everyone what I was going for."

Russell Brand Reveals What Kissing Jennifer Garner Tastes Like

Russell Brand is one lucky man. He recently married pop sensation Katy Perry and describes what it's like to make out with Jennifer Garner.

Brand was interviewed by NextMovie.com from the set of his upcoming movie 'Arthur,' a remake of the 1981 Dudley Moore classic, when he was asked about Garner, his co-star in the film.

Brand revealed that Garner was like a fairy princess and then went on to describe what kissing her felt like. "There's a brand of red-velvet cake, her mouth is made of that," he said.

The 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' actor continued to describe the romantic scenes. "She smashes you in the mouth [in] those kissing scenes. If I was Ben Affleck, man, I'd be pissed off."

Brand also revealed that in the movie he gets to be in bed with Dame Helen Mirren, who reads him bedtime stories like the 'Frog and Toad' stories, except Mirren goes with the dirty version of the classic.

He was quoted saying, "She [Mirren] was like, 'Toad took Frog and mounted him from behind and amounted him smoothly with a rhythmic pace...'"

Lawsuit Against Mets goes Public

The trustee for victims of the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme is trying to recover $300 million, and possibly more, in what he calls fake profits from the owners of the New York Mets.

The lawyers for Mets principal owner Fred Wilpon countered that their accounts with Madoff went from $500 million to zero when the scheme was shut down. But trustee Irving Picard claims the Mets had already withdrawn profits and the balance of a fraudulent account doesn't matter.

He also claims that Wilpon and his associates knew or should have known that their gains were ill-gotten and wants victims compensated for that as well.

Lawyers for the Mets say Picard is only looking at funds in which the group withdrew more money than it invested, while other funds lost $160 million, and they have always claimed that they did not know Madoff was committing fraud.

The trustee's demand is made in a complaint ordered unsealed Friday in federal bankruptcy court in Manhattan.

The trustee's complaint names Fred Wilpon, chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon and others connected to the Mets and Sterling Equities as defendants. Lawyers agreed to make it public after settlement talks broke down.

"There are thousands of victims of Madoff's massive Ponzi scheme," the lawsuit reads. "But [Fred Wilpon's brother-in-law and Mets president] Saul Katz is not one of them. Neither is Fred Wilpon. And neither are the rest of the partners at [Wilpon-owned] Sterling Equities ['Sterling'] who, along with Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz, are sophisticated investors who oversee and control Sterling and its many businesses and investments.

"The Sterling partners, their family members, their related trusts, and various entities they own, operate, and control were collectively one of the largest beneficiaries of Madoff's fraud, reaping hundreds of millions in fictitious profits over their quarter-century relationship with Madoff. The Sterling partners, their family members, trusts and Sterling-related entities made so much easy money from Madoff for so long that despite the many objective indicia of fraud before them, the Sterling partners chose to simply look the other way."

The Mets fired back in a statement.

"Contrary to what the Trustee asserts, the returns on the Sterling-related brokerage accounts were not 'staggering, easy money,' or 'too good to be true,'" a statement from the Wilpons' lawyers read. "The $300 million of profit alleged in the complaint, even if accurate, would not be 'staggering' or extraordinary when viewed in the context of the amount of principal invested over the past 25 years.

"In addition, the $300 million claimed in the complaint reflects only those accounts that the Trustee has selected for inclusion because they were profitable. It ignores numerous accounts that, in the Trustee's parlance, were 'net losers,' which, according to our clients' analysis, total approximately $160 million."

The lawsuit claims that the Mets owners and their businesses used their "close personal connection to Madoff" to support all of their enterprises.

"Sterling partners opened and administered 483 BLMIS [Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities] accounts: approximately 300 for themselves, their families, their trusts and entities; and the rest for their closest friends, employees, and business associates," the lawsuit says. "Madoff money flowed through every aspect of Sterling's business."

"The Mets alone had 16 related BLMIS accounts from which Sterling withdrew over $90 million in fictitious profits," the lawsuit adds, saying that money "helped fund its day-to-day operations."

In fact, the lawsuit says that Sterling was "so heavily invested" in Madoff that when his scheme was shut down, the group had to restructure "over half a billion dollars of Sterling's debt."

The Mets group denied that Madoff money fueled their enterprises.

"Madoff investments did not 'fuel' our clients' operating businesses. The Sterling partners' wealth was generated by their hard-earned success in real estate, sports, media, and other businesses -- not by investments with Madoff."

At the heart of the lawsuit are claims that Wilpon and his partners knew or should have known that Madoff was operating a fraudulent business.

"The warning signs were many and varied, ranging from cautionary counsel from financial industry experts and trusted advisors, to Madoff's schemes to avoid regulatory scrutiny, to the fact that the Sterling partners had even invested in a Ponzi scheme before BLMIS' collapse that bore similar markings to another fraud right under their collective noses," the lawsuit says.

In fact, the lawsuit alleges that the Wilpon family was warned on at least three separate occasions in the past 10 years that Madoff's profits were suspect, most recently by Merrill Lynch.

One Sterling consultant advised Katz in 2003 that he "couldn't make Bernie's math work and something wasn't right," the court papers say.

The lawsuit says Sterling was on notice as early as 1991 that Madoff's firm was audited by a three-person operation in Rockland County, N.Y., that consisted of a certified public accountant, a semi-retired accountant and an assistant.

In 1996, it says, multiple banks refused to serve as custodian of Sterling's 401K plan because of concerns about Madoff's lack of transparency and inability to provide daily account balance information.

At one point after several financial news publications raised questions about the Madoff business in May 2001, Sterling considered getting fraud insurance that would have included a Ponzi scheme but Sterling ultimately rejected the insurance because coverage limits meant most of their money was uninsurable, according to the court papers.

The lawsuit said Sterling's Madoff accounts produced positive returns during the Black Monday stock market crash of 1987, the bursting of the dot-com bubble in 2000, the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and the recession and housing crisis of 2008.

"Remarkably, Sterling's [Madoff] investments were effectively immune from any number of market catastrophes, enjoying steady rates of return even during events that otherwise devastated financial markets," the lawsuit says.

The statement issued by Sterling's lawyers could not have been more clear in rejecting the claims of the complaint, even calling the lawsuit a "strong arm."

"The conclusions in the complaint are not supported by the facts," it reads. "While they may make for good headlines, they are abusive, unfair and untrue. We categorically reject them. We should not be made victims twice over -- the first time by Madoff, and again by the Trustee's actions."

Fred Wilpon and Jeff Wilpon announced last Friday they intended to explore selling 20 to 25 percent of the team to pay off any settlement stemming from the case. The sides said settlement talks broke down Thursday.

The lawsuit had been filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York in December under seal.

Madoff, 72, is serving a 150-year sentence in a federal prison in North Carolina after admitting that he ran his epic Ponzi scheme for at least two decades, using his investment advisory service to cheat thousands of individuals, charities, celebrities and institutional investors.

Losses are estimated at around $20 billion, making it the biggest investment fraud in U.S. history.

Titans Meet with Coach Candidates

The Tennessee Titans have interviewed their first candidates outside of their own building in the search for a new head coach, talking to Atlanta offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey and New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell.

The Titans confirmed Friday they completed formal interviews with Mularkey and Fewell. The team is not commenting any further until they conclude the search to replace Jeff Fisher.

Mularkey is the first candidate interviewed by Tennessee who has been a head coach. By interviewing Fewell, the Titans satisfied the Rooney rule by talking with a minority candidate.

This is the second head coaching job Mularkey has interviewed for this year. He interviewed with the Browns before they hired Pat Shurmur, though he also canceled an interview with Denver.

Mularkey went 14-18 with Buffalo from 2004-05 before resigning in 2006 due to philosophical differences with the head office. He started coaching in the NFL in Tampa Bay before moving to Pittsburgh for eight seasons, the last three as offensive coordinator, where he mentored Kordell Stewart and Tommy Maddox.

He has been in Atlanta the past three seasons grooming quarterback Matt Ryan to the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2008. Ryan led the Falcons to a 13-3 record and the NFC's No. 1 seed this season.

This is Fewell's fourth interview this offseason for a head coaching job, after he talked with Carolina, Cleveland and Denver.

The 48-year-old coach spent 2010 as defensive coordinator with the Giants. He had been defensive coordinator in Buffalo under Dick Jauron until he was fired, and Fewell was interim head coach of the Bills for the final seven games, going 3-4.

The North Carolina native started coaching in college and is familiar with Nashville from his stint at Vanderbilt, where he coached the secondary from 1995-97.

Tom Coughlin hired Fewell in Jacksonville in 1998 as his defensive backs coach, and he stayed in that job through 2002. Fewell coached St. Louis' secondary in 2003-04 and was with Chicago in 2005, when the Bears had an NFC-best 24 interceptions with Pro Bowl selections in Nathan Vasher and Mike Brown.

Fewell went to Buffalo as Jauron's defensive coordinator in 2006, running the Bills' 3-4 defense. It allowed only 14 touchdown passes in his last two seasons, and the Bills tied for fifth in the NFL with 33 takeaways. That's a category the Titans struggled in this season.

Coughlin hired Fewell again in January 2010 as his defensive coordinator.

The Titans started the search by interviewing offensive line coach Mike Munchak, considered the top candidate for the job, and offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger earlier this week.

Albert Haynesworth Accused in Virginia

Washington Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth has been accused of simple assault and a summons notice has been issued by authorities in Virginia, police said Friday.

Police say he threw a punch at a fellow motorist Wednesday in a Washington, D.C., suburb.

Fairfax County authorities said arrangements have been made through Haynesworth's attorney to meet with them to receive a summons-releasable warrant sometime next week.

Haynesworth's agent, Chad Speck, said Friday the player had yet to speak to police or prosecutors.

Haynesworth, 29, allegedly threw a punch to the nose of Joel Velazques, 38, of Leesburg, Va.

Velazques told ESPN that after their vehicles jockeyed for road space in Reston, Va., a person he recognized as Haynesworth got out of a Ford F-150 truck with Tennessee license plates and confronted Velazques and punched him in the nose before taking off.

Speck said the allegations are false.

"Only one side of this story has been told at this point in time," Speck said. "If contacted by the authorities, Albert will certainly cooperate in any way."

Simple assault is punishable in Virginia by not more than a year in jail and a fine of $2,500 or less.

Redskins owner Daniel Snyder said Friday that he had not had any contact with Haynesworth or his representative, and didn't know whether general manager Bruce Allen or coach Mike Shanahan had been in touch with them, either.

Snyder, who was in Dallas for the Super Bowl, said he didn't know all the facts.

"We'll see what happens," he said.

A Redskins executive told The Washington Post the team had not heard about the incident.

"This is the first I'm hearing about this," Tony Wyllie, Redskins senior vice president, told the Washington newspaper in a phone interview from Dallas, where he was attending Super Bowl events with owner Daniel Snyder. "At this time, we need to gather information."

Velazques said he followed Haynesworth but lost him along the way, but he did call 911. Fairfax County police eventually were called, and Velazques gave a statement to them.

"This man, who actually provoked the situation himself, recognized Albert and is now simply trying to turn it into his 15 minutes of fame and get, we can only assume, some money," Speck said. "Albert did not assault this man and looks forward to his day in court to refute these ridiculous allegations."

Velazques said Haynesworth came to the driver's side window of his car, and after Velazques lowered his window, Haynesworth said to him twice, "You're not so tough now," and then punched him in the side of his nose.

Velazques said he was treated at a local hospital, where it was determined he suffered a contusion to his nose but it was not broken.

Officer Shelley Broderick told The Post the driver of a 1994 Honda Civic reportedly issued a "non-verbal hand gesture" to a pickup driver behind him before the two stopped for a light at an intersection at about 9:16 a.m. ET Wednesday. The Honda driver had thought the pickup was tailgating, Broderick told the newspaper.

Haynesworth, a two-time All-Pro, has had his share of trouble while with the Redskins. He repeatedly clashed with coach Mike Shanahan and was suspended without pay for the final four games of the season for "conduct detrimental to the club."

He has played only 20 games for the team since he was signed in 2009 to a seven-year, $100 million contract, with $41 million in guaranteed money.

Haynesworth isn't the only Redskins player to be in trouble with the law recently. In December, defensive lineman Joe Joseph was arrested on charges of driving under the influence less than 24 hours after making his NFL debut.

Larry Drew II Leaves Tar Heels

In a jarring February development, North Carolina point guard Larry Drew II has left the Tar Heels team and will transfer.

A source did not cite a reason for Drew's decision to transfer but did say the junior left campus Friday morning, roughly 48 hours after recording nine assists in 19 minutes in North Carolina's 106-74 victory over Boston College.

In a statement issued later in the day by the school, Drew said he was leaving because "it's in my best interest to continue my education and basketball career elsewhere."

Drew did not indicate where he might play next. If he transfers to another Division I school, Drew will have to sit out a year, and he would have one season of eligibility remaining.

Coach Roy Williams said at a news conference that Drew's father -- Atlanta Hawks head coach Larry Drew -- informed him of his son's decision to leave in a phone call Friday morning. Williams said he was "shocked" by the news.

"Basically there was no arbitrating, there was no trying to see if we could rectify anything," Williams said Friday afternoon. "That was the decision that was made and he thought it was in Larry's best interest."

"He made the decision. I did speak to coach Williams," Larry Drew said. "I thought it was important we did it in a very tasteful manner and we did that. My son issued the statement and it came from him. He clearly stated that his family has his support."

Drew essentially has shared the point guard position this season with freshman Kendall Marshall; he lost the starting role to Marshall in mid-January.

As a result, Drew's playing time, scoring and assists have dropped from last season -- minutes down from 28.8 to 22.8 per game; scoring from 8.5 points to 4.4; and assists from 5.9 to 3.9.

However, he's had some of his better floor games in the Tar Heels' past three games, all victories, racking up 19 assists and only two turnovers while playing fewer minutes than Marshall.

Drew was a lightning rod for fan criticism last year, when the Tar Heels failed to earn an NCAA tournament berth.

"It is unfortunate my career didn't meet expectations in Chapel Hill," Drew said in the statement. "However I do look forward to continuing my collegiate and athletic career in the near future."

North Carolina is 16-5 overall after winning nine of its last 10, and 6-1 in the ACC, second behind No. 5 Duke. The Tar Heels (T-23 AP) are on the verge of re-entering the ESPN/USA Today coaches' top 25 after being ranked ninth in the preseason.

North Carolina hosts Florida State on Sunday, then travels to Duke on Wednesday night.
