NFC Takes Down AFC in Turnover-Filled Pro Bowl

A tropical rainstorm moved in from the Pacific and cleared just before the Pro Bowl began on Sunday. What followed was a sloppy show that was not exactly riveting entertainment a week in advance of the Super Bowl.

The NFC's 55-41 victory, a game not nearly as interesting as that score would indicate, did nothing to repair the tattered image of the NFL's all-star contest.

New England's Bill Belichick, the AFC coach and a man of even fewer words than usual, might have come closest to summing up the game with his mumbled cliche, "It is what it is."

MVP DeAngelo Hall had one of his team's five interceptions and returned a fumble 34 yards for a touchdown to help the NFC match a Pro Bowl scoring record in a 55-41 victory over turnover-prone AFC. He gets a new Cadillac for his efforts.

"I was just about to buy another SUV," the Washington Redskins cornerback said, "so to come out here and grab one for free, I like that."

AFC quarterbacks Philip Rivers, Peyton Manning and Matt Cassel each threw first-half interceptions to help the NFC blow open a 42-0 lead in a performance ugly even by the historically low standards of this game.

Fittingly for this strange contest, center Alex Mack of Cleveland scored the final touchdown on a 67-yard pass play that featured two laterals with 16 seconds left.

Carolina's Jon Beason returned the fifth interception thrown by the AFC, and second by Matt Cassel, 59 yards for the NFC's final touchdown to match the single-team scoring record set in the NFC's 55-52 victory in 2004.

"It feels amazing. It was a lot of fun," Minnesota's Adrian Peterson said. "We came out and put up a bunch of points and had some fun doing it, so it was a good day."

Belichick, after his Super Bowl favorite Patriots lost to the New York Jets in the divisional playoffs, had to watch his AFC squad muddle through a first half that ended 42-7.

Pro Bowls are, by their nature, laid-back affairs, seemingly played at half speed by players whose biggest concern is to get on the plane home without injury.

The AFC, though, took that attitude to an uncomfortable extreme early on before coming back to outscore the NFC 41-13.

The NFC led 42-0 after Steven Jackson waltzed through the AFC defense for a 21-yard touchdown -- and there still was 4½ minutes left in the second quarter.

Rivers, starting in place of injured Tom Brady, was picked off twice in the first quarter, the second by Hall.

"You underthrow one just a hair and they intercept it," Rivers said. "You get a deflection for an interception. ... They had all the breaks early."

Manning, in his 11th Pro Bowl, came on briefly in relief and his second pass was picked off. Then Cassel got his chance and quickly joined in the spirit of things, throwing his second pass of the game directly into the hands of Minnesota cornerback Antoine Winfield.

But just when it appeared it would be the most one-sided game in Pro Bowl history, eclipsing the Joe Theismann-led 45-3 NFC rout of the AFC in 1984, the AFC scored three touchdowns in a row. The last came on the game's seventh turnover, when Devin Hester tried to hand the kickoff return to Hall, but the ball fell to the turf. Montell Owens of Jacksonville scooped it up and ran it in 10 yards for the score to make it 42-21 with 10 minutes left in the third quarter.

With his seven extra points, tying a Pro Bowl record, along with two field goals, David Akers moved ahead of Morten Andersen (45) for most career Pro Bowl points with 52. The Philadelphia kicker would have had more but his 36-yard field goal try in the fourth quarter bounced off the right upright.

"Morten Andersen was a mentor of mine and I competed with Morten for a job in Atlanta and he taught me a lot," Akers said, "so it means a lot to be able to pass a legend like that."

The game returned to its traditional home in Hawaii after a one-year detour to Miami, much to the approval of the players involved.

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick started but played only the first quarter, completing 5 of 10 passes for 59 yards.

Peterson rushed for 80 yards in 14 carries for the NFC, including a 14-yarder to set a Pro Bowl record with four career rushing touchdowns. Atlanta got good performances from Matt Ryan (9 of 13 for 118 yards and two touchdowns with an interception), Michael Turner (eight carries for 53 yards) and Roddy White (five catches for 69 yards).

Notes
  • A 70-yard punt by Mat McBriar of Dallas in the first quarter tied for second-longest in Pro Bowl history.
  • The state of Hawaii is paying the NFL about $4 million this season and next to keep the Pro Bowl team in Honolulu. Location for the contest is up in the air after 2012.
  • Peterson had been tied with three career rushing TDs with Earl Campbell, Chuck Muncie and Mike Alstott.
  • Tony Gonzalez added to his Pro Bowl record for career receptions (42) and moved into first in TD catches with his sixth.
  • The attendance of 49,338 was just shy of a sellout.

Watson Rallies to Edge Lefty at Torrey Pines

Bubba Watson tempered his celebration when he rolled in a 12-foot birdie putt on the final hole Sunday at Torrey Pines, knowing Phil Mickelson could still make eagle on the par-5 closing hole to catch him.

It played out just as Watson imagined, right down to Mickelson's caddie tending the pin on the eagle attempt.

There was just one twist -- Mickelson wasn't anywhere near the green.

In a surprising decision that gave way to brief drama, Mickelson laid up on the 18th hole and had to settle for a birdie when his lob wedge from 72 yards away stopped 4 feet short of the hole.

The winner of the Farmers Insurance Open turned out to be Watson, who made clutch putts on the final two holes for a 5-under 67 and was sitting in the scoring trailer at the end, oblivious to how the final hole played out.

"I don't know how close he hit it. I don't know what he made on the hole," Watson said. "I just know that I won, because that's all I was worried about. If he makes it, I'm getting ready for a playoff. So I'm trying not to get too emotional. I realize it's Phil Mickelson. He can make any shot he wants to."

Just not this one.

So ended a bizarre week along the Pacific bluffs. A lefty won at Torrey Pines, just not the one Mickelson's hometown gallery wanted to see. Mickelson, the ultimate risk-taker of his era, opened himself up to criticism on the final hole because -- get this -- he played it safe.

As for Tiger Woods?

His five-tournament winning streak at Torrey Pines ended without hardly anyone noticing. Woods was done some two hours before the finish, and his 75 put him in a tie for 44th. He had never finished outside the top 10 at Torrey Pines, and it was his worst start to his golf season since he turned pro.

His lie in the left rough looked to be OK, although the grain of the grass was into his ball and he had 228 yards to the flag. A hybrid would have come out heavy and gone into the water. He said his 3-wood would have come out hot and got well over the green, leaving a difficult chip. Mickelson figured his best chance at eagle was a 64-degree wedge from the fairway, using the bank behind the hole to help feed the ball to the cup.

As for his caddie, Jim Mackay, tending the pin on such a long shot?

"Obviously, you need to hit a great shot and you need to get some luck to hole one from the fairway," Mickelson said. "I'm not naive on that. I get it. But I also didn't want to have something in the way. It's not like I do it every week. But the last hole of the tournament, I've got to make it."

He didn't, although it was pure entertainment.

Mickelson tapped in for birdie and a 69, a score he thought would be enough to win at Torrey Pines for the first time in 10 years. Instead, he found himself chasing Watson and Jhonattan Vegas, the Venezuela rookie who won the Bob Hope Classic last week and had another chance to win until his 5-iron on the final hole found the water.

"Bubba played some terrific golf," Mickelson said. "I did what I thought would be enough, and it just wasn't. Bubba played too good. He made great shot after great shot, and made putt after putt. It was a wonderful round for him."

Watson hit such a monstrous drive on the par-5 13th that he had wedge left to the green on the 525-yard hole. But he won the tournament with his putter, especially on the last two holes.

With a one-shot lead over Vegas, and Mickelson lurking, Watson hit out of a fairway bunker and over the green on the 17th, and his chip raced 10 feet past the hole. After badly missing two birdies putts inside 10 feet, this one was pure.

Then came the 18th, where Watson blasted another tee shot and had a 7-iron into the green. He pushed that long and left, into a bunker and leaving himself another downhill shot. This came out ideally, leaving himself a 12-foot birdie putt that was true.

Then it was Mickelson's turn -- except that he already had taken it.

"I thought he was going for it," Watson said. "When I looked back down the fairway and I made the putt, I didn't want to get too excited because I thought it was him going for it. I didn't know he had already laid up."

It was a tough loss for Mickelson, especially with his wife, Amy, in the gallery for all four rounds for the first time since she was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2009. Her prospects are looking up, and so are Mickelson's - with his arthritis issues, and his game.

"I'm disappointed," Mickelson said. "I wanted to start the year off with a win. On the other hand, I played really good golf."

His runner-up finish will be enough to move to No. 4 in the world.

Watson finished at 16-under 272 for his second victory, although this one came against a much stronger field than his playoff win at the Travelers Championship last summer.

"It showed I can do it," he said. "I've done it twice now. I'm only 50 behind Phil and about 80 behind Tiger. So they better watch out."

Vegas made bogey for a 68 and tied for third with Dustin Johnson, who shot 66. Bill Haas, who shared the lead with Mickelson going into the final round, bogeyed the first hole and never caught up. He birdied the last hole for a 75 and tied for ninth.

Woods began the weekend only five shots out of the lead and never got closer. His final round began with him missing two birdie putts inside 10 feet, and it only got worse from there. He had never finished more than four shots out of the lead, and wound up 15 behind.

"I have some work to do," Woods said. "There's no doubt about that."

St. John's takes over early, blasts No. 3 Duke

Teams that beat Duke have reason to celebrate. Teams that blow Duke out of the building should be able to party all night.

So, how long will the St. John's players be allowed to celebrate Sunday's 93-78 victory over No. 3 Duke - a game that wasn't as close as the final score indicated?

"Coach Lav said we had two hours to celebrate and then we have to get ready for Rutgers," senior forward Justin Burrell said, referring to first-year coach Steve Lavin and the Red Storm's next opponent on Wednesday.

Two hours? It will take longer than that just to go over the highlight plays of a game that St. John's had won by halftime. Those last 20 minutes were just a formality.

"I felt like we were ready. The guys wanted to play this game," Duke guard Nolan Smith said. "We wanted to be here but they came out from the jump ball and kicked our butts."

It wasn't that St. John's (12-8) beat the Blue Devils (19-2), it was the way it happened.

St. John's was finishing a stretch of eight straight games against ranked teams. This win gave them three wins in that span. It was enough to have Lavin waving his arms to the crowd at a media timeout in the second half.

"You're caught up in the moment of the game and I wanted St. John's fans to come to the party in terms of supporting the players on the court," Lavin said. "We had this arduous stretch of games and having lost five of six, at that moment it was just wanting to jumper cable the crowd and bring energy for our players because they deserved a pat on the back and some appreciation for the yeoman's effort and the cohesive brand of basketball they had been playing against the defending national champion."

The Red Storm, who had lost three straight and five of six, took control early and had a 46-25 lead at halftime. Duke, which came into the game shooting 40 percent from 3-point range, missed its first 10 shots from behind the arc and made one of 13 in the half.

The Blue Devils' overall shooting wasn't a whole lot better as they shot 29.6 percent (8 of 27) in the half - they entered the game shooting 48.1 percent from the field - and they were careless with the ball as well, committing 11 turnovers, one off their season average for a game.

St. John's had a lot to do with how poorly Duke played, using a three-quarter court trap to force the Blue Devils into low percentage passes that almost all seemed to either be stolen by St. John's or just thrown away.

"It's not an Xs and Os thing today," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "I felt we were not ready to compete, we had blank expressions on our faces and guys weren't talking and that's my responsibility. Our program didn't do well today and that is all our responsibilities."

There was plenty of praise to go around for the Red Storm, who gave the Big East a 6-1 record against teams ranked in the top 10 this season. They were 16 of 28 from the field (57.1 percent) in the first half, well above the 45.2 percent the Red Storm were shooting coming into the game.

Dwight Hardy had 26 points for St. John's, while Justin Brownlee had 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists and Paris Horne added 15 points and six assists. St. John's shot 58.2 percent for the game (32 of 55) and was 26 of 33 from the free throw line.

"I thought our team from the outset executed with precision on offense and brought great intensity to the defensive end of the floor," Lavin said, "and we were able to maintain a high level of basketball for 40 minutes and that was the difference."

Duke's loss continued the weekend of misery for members of the Top 25. On Saturday, four teams in the top 10 and 11 ranked teams overall lost.

Smith led Duke with 32 points and Kyle Singler added 20. Duke finished 5 of 26 from 3-point range -- they missed 21 of the first 22 attempts -- and had 17 turnovers.

"To sum it up they got whatever they wanted and we just weren't able to bounce back and match them," Singler said.

The sellout crowd of 19,353 at Madison Square Garden -- about 60 percent of whom were cheering for St. John's -- seemed to be waiting for a run by the Blue Devils, who had won four straight since its loss at Florida State, that would make their nightmare half go away.

St. John's came out and scored the first two baskets of the second half -- one on a dunk by D.J. Kennedy 10 seconds in, the other on a layup by Hardy off a nice pass from Dwayne Polee II -- to take its biggest lead of the game, 50-25 1:04 into the second half.

St. John's had doubled Duke and the Red Storm managed to score enough the rest of the way to keep the Blue Devils at bay. The closest Duke would get would be 11 points after they hit four straights 3-pointers to pull to 87-76.

"I was really excited," said Burrell who had eight points and five rebounds. "I'm one of those guys who really enjoys college basketball and I was excited to be a part of this."

The Red Storm started their run against ranked teams with a 61-58 victory over then-No. 13 Georgetown. After losses to Notre Dame and Syracuse, they beat then-No. 9 Notre Dame 72-54 in a rematch. Losses to Louisville, Cincinnati and Georgetown preceded the win over Duke. All three wins were at Madison Square Garden.

"This was an interesting stretch as a coach," Lavin said. "I don't think it had ever happened. The mathematical probabilities have got to be one in a zillion. "We've had to temper things with them and be mindful of that frustration. The concern was that our players realize this conference is really tough and you can lose five of six and not be playing bad basketball."

Duke had been as comfortable at the Garden as St. John's. The Blue Devils had won their last five and 12 of 13 there and were 25-14 all-time.

The game got chippy for a while in the second half and double technicals were called twice before things settled down.

Indiana Pacers Fire Coach Jim O'Brien

A little more than a week ago, we noted some rumblings that changes were in store for the Indiana Pacers, as coach Jim O'Brien and GM David Morway were likely going to be replaced at the end of the season, with President Larry Bird's future up in the air as well.

O'Brien was said to be safe through the rest of the season, as no one on his staff was seen as head coach material. On Sunday, though, that story changed in a big way: Yahoo! Sports reports that the Pacers have fired O'Brien. CBSSports.com's Ken Berger has confirmed the decision, citing multiple sources.

The Indianapolis Star reports that Pacers assistant Frank Vogel is "expected to coach the team for the remainder of the season." According to his NBA.com bio, Vogel is just 37-years-old and in his eighth season as an assistant coach. Once tabbed, Vogel will surpass New Orleans Hornets coach Monty Williams as the youngest head coach in the NBA.

Berger reports that "a person with knowledge of the team's plans confirmed to CBSSports.com that Vogel was the likely choice to take over for O'Brien on an interim basis. Also under discussion internally, according to the source, was team president Larry Bird coming down to the bench for the rest of the season. If the choice is Vogel, as expected, it is an indication that Bird didn't want to coach."

Yahoo! Sports names former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown and Utah Jazz assistant Tyrone Corbin as two possible candidates to replace O'Brien on a "long-term basis."

Pacers fans had been frustrated with O'Brien and the team's progress for some time. The decision to fire O'Brien now rather than wait until the end of the season likely boils down to two factors: expectations and rotations.

The Pacers got off to a 9-7 start, and have enough talent on the roster to be a lower-level playoff team in the top-heavy Eastern Conference. But the Pacers are currently 17-37 on the season, good for 10th in the Eastern Conference, could lead to the thinking that the season is at a crossroads. Salvaging a playoff seed out of this season would be huge, but perhaps O'Brien wasn't seen as someone able to reach the players and right the ship.

The other regular criticism of O'Brien has been his inconsistent rotations. Coaches of losing teams get that a lot, as they juggle the pieces looking for something that will work. The problem: O'Brien didn't have a solid argument to hang his hat on. Star forward Danny Granger has seen his numbers regress from last year, center Roy Hibbert started strong but then tailed off in a big way, point guard Darren Collison often struggled with his efficiency, and none of the other periphery parts have developed into anything substantial.

The firing comes one day after the Pacers lost to the Chicago Bulls, 110-89, on Saturday night. IndyCornrows.com notes that O'Brien was ejected from last night's game.

O'Brien was hired by Indiana before the 2007-2008 NBA season. His record with the team was 121-169, and he never won more than 36 games in a season. His career coaching record stands at 303-327.

Madonna Planning to Take 'Glee' Cast on Tour

After 'Glee' paid homage to the Queen of Pop last year in a special episode showcasing her hits, including Jane Lynch's unique rendition of 'Vogue,' it's apparent Madonna became a fan of the musical comedy series, as she plans to take the cast on tour with her this year.

According to Britain's News of the World, the blond bombshell is looking to embark on a tour with the likes of 'Glee' stars Lea Michele and Corey Monteith. She reportedly plans on using segments of last year's tribute episode during the forthcoming concerts.

The 'Celebration' creator may be throwing in the towel after such a tour and wants this event to be one that'll leave a lasting impression on fans. "Madonna wants to break records and make her career bigger than ever," a source tells News of the World. "And because the 'Glee' episode featuring her music was such a hit, there are plans for the cast to appear. She is in amazing shape for her age but this could be her last big world tour she does for a while as she wants to concentrate on business ventures."

No stranger to commanding audiences with her stellar dance moves and outrageous outfits, Madonna last greeted loyal supporters onstage in 2008 and 2009, when she hit the road on the Sticky and Sweet Tour. The production turned out to be the highest grossing roadshow by a solo artist in history, pulling in $408 million.

David Arquette Checks Out of Rehab

Nearly one month after entering himself into a rehab facility to treat problems with "alcohol and other issues," David Arquette has checked himself out.

Arquette completed his treatment on Sunday. "He has competed his treatment and has left," his rep tells PEOPLE. Another source told PEOPLE that Arquette is "in great spirits. He's feeling good and he's ready to move forward."

Arquette had checked into rehab at the beginning of January. The actor moved into a live-in rehab facility to address an alcohol problem following a New Year's Eve party at Arquette & Beacher's Madhouse Theater, located at the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. According to its website, the venue features a "Flying Midget bartender" and had the "atmosphere of a circus."

A source close to Arquette told TMZ at the time that he was seeking help because it was "the right thing to do for his family." PEOPLE quoted another insider who confirms the star entered rehab for "drinking and depression, not hard drugs."

Courteney Cox came out in support of her estranged husband after his decision. "I really admire David and his choice to take charge and better his life," the actress told PEOPLE earlier this month. "I love and support him."

Arquette checked himself into an unidentified facility over the holiday weekend following months of erratic behavior that included several revealing conversations with friend and shock jock Howard Stern. Many of the revelations to Stern included intimate details of his love life -- or lack of a love life -- with Cox.

On 'SNL,' Nicki Minaj Is Crazy About 'The Creep'

What are the odds that three awkward dweebs with nerdy suits, greasy hygiene, and perverse social skills could get you out on the dance floor? With the right featured guest rapping on their hot new track, those odds actually go way up.

As the musical artist dropping by 'Saturday Night Live' this week, Nicki Minaj worked overtime on the episode, joining the creeps of 'The Creep' -- a.k.a. The Lonely Island (Andy Samberg with longtime comedy partners Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer) -- to launch the new club craze.

In a cameo, John Waters oozed sleaze while introducing the hapless hip-hoppers, as if to confirm: Only the uncoolest of the uncool invited.

"Get your knees flexin' and your arms T-Rexin'" was a fine rhyme on Minaj's part, but it was the Grammy nominee's adorable blond bookworm look, not to mention her skill at balancing nerdy sweetness and total ickiness (even dabbling in necrophiliac PDA for one crazy moment) that put the latest 'SNL' digital short over the top. Minaj told fans later she had a great time working with "incredible" people on set, and even tweeted the name of her 'Creep' character.

If you missed the broadcast and are taking in all the weirdness for the first time, don't worry if you don't get it at first. Let it grow on you...like a fungus.

Oh, Boy: Culture Club to Reunite for World Tour

After recent hinting in the press, Boy George confirms: Culture Club will reunite next year.

The singer, 49, also promises a "proper huge worldwide tour" starring the iconic '80s hitmakers. The announcement comes during the run-up to the release of his solo album 'Ordinary Alien,' partly written while he served four months in prison for the assault and false imprisonment of a male escort.

Responding to a question about a Culture Club reunion, sent to the BBC's 'Breakfast' show late last week by celebrity fan Mark Ronson (a top producer in the industry, and brother of Lindsay Lohan's ex, Samantha Ronson), Boy George replied: "We are getting back together. Next year. This year [I'm touring] on my own. It's kind of a precursor for what I'm doing with Culture Club in 2012. We'll be doing a proper huge worldwide tour. And a new album."

The reunion falls on the band's 30th anniversary. They nearly hit the road together in 2006, when original bandmates Mikey Craig and Jon Moss announced a Culture Club comeback, but their flamboyant frontman declined to sign on, and plans were soon scrapped.

"I kind of use my writing like a diary, so I write about things that are very personal to me, things that I've experienced, things that have affected me and that I feel strongly about," Boy George (born George Alan O'Dowd) has said about growing as an artist during his 2009 imprisonment. "I've surprised myself, really with my resilience. Yes [prison] did happen, but it feels so long ago now."

Speaking of things that happened long ago, revisit Culture Club at their most brilliant, with the original 1983 video for 'Karma Chameleon.'

Jesse James' Ex, Janine Lindemulder, Arrested for Harrassing Him

There's a new, serious development in the soap opera that is Jesse James' love life (as if his shocking, secret Nazi comedy pics weren't serious enough).

Last year, the motorcycle man ended a five-year marriage to Oscar winner Sandra Bullock -- and relocated to Texas to raise his kids near her -- after an infidelity scandal involving Michelle 'Bombshell' McGee. This year, he proclaimed his love for a new fiancee, 'L.A. Ink' star Kat Von D.

Now, RadarOnline reports that ex-wife Janine Lindemulder, mother of his 7-year-old, Sunny, has been arrested outside Austin, Tex., after allegedly leaving a slew of "harrassing" voicemails on James' phone. A Hays County sheriff's deputy confirmed the arrest.

James, 41, and former adult-film actress Lindemulder, 42, have been battling in court over custody of Sunny, who lives with her father.

According to legal documents reviewed by TMZ, James' ex stands accused of leaving hundreds of "chronic harassing telephone calls to all hours of the day and night," estimated at more than 300 messages since he moved to the Austin area. But her attorney said Lindemulder called her ex-husband (the two were married 2002-'04) out of frustration because he kept her from seeing her daughter "for months."

Lindemulder is reportedly behind bars awaiting a hearing with a judge. She previously served a six-month term in federal prison for tax evasion in 2009.

'New Kid' Jonathan Knight Officially Comes Out

Jonathan Knight was world-famous in the '80s as one of the New Kids on the Block. And he was gay. He just never told his public, until now.

But Tiffany did it first! The word got out, so to speak, during her recent TV interview with Bravo's Andy Cohen. The redhead singer-turned-Syfy actress confirmed that she canoodled with Knight when they were tourmates back in the day, explaining that "[he] became gay later." She soon apologized for the gaffe.

As for Knight, EW.com reports that he has finally, officially come out to New Kids fans, via a message he posted Saturday on a members-only site.

"I have never been outed by anyone but myself! I did so almost twenty years ago. I never knew that I would have to do it all over again publicly just because I reunited with NKOTB!"

He continued, "I have lived my life very openly and have never hidden the fact that I am gay! Apparently the pre requisite to being a gay public figure is to appear on the cover of a magazine with the caption 'I am gay.' I apologize for not doing so if this is what was expected! My belief is that you live your life by example, and not by a caption on a magazine! If there ever has been any confusion about my sexuality, then you are someone that doesn't even know me!"

"I love living my life being open and honest, but at this time I choose not to discuss my private life any further! My fellow band members don't discuss their private lives with their loved ones and I don't feel that just because I am gay, I should have to discuss mine!"

The reunited New Kids on the Block are teaming with the Backstreet Boys for an upcoming summer tour.

George Clooney: Hollywood's Hottest Bachelor Plays the Field

Although you'd never guess it, this silver fox who consistently tops 'Sexiest Man Alive' charts was given the nickname 'Frankenstein' by his childhood bullies. Now, the horrors of his middle school days long gone, George Clooney is one of the world's most eligible bachelors and is no stranger to scoring with Hollywood's equally hot actresses, models ... and waitresses.

George's fame-making role as a doctor on 'ER' definitely didn't hurt his heartthrob status, and in 1988, George moved in with actress and girlfriend Kelly Preston. Although their relationship didn't last more than a year, it did lead him to the love of his life -- a pig named Max. George had bought the pig for Kelly while they were dating and claimed full custody after the couple called it quits. Max kept Kelly's empty side of the bed warm, sleeping with George at night.

But it wasn't just the boys, George and Max, for long. In 1989 George eloped with actress Talia Balsam in Las Vegas. The newlyweds had dated briefly five years prior to their Vegas nuptials but George would later say that the couple rushed into marriage. And the rush didn't end well; in 1993 the two called it quits. George's four-year taste of married life was enough for Hollywood's leading man to make one more vow -- to never marry again.

George's next partner, Celine Balitran, came with a side order of leggy blonde. In 1996 George met the bombshell waitress while filming 'The Peacemaker' in Paris. Once George wrapped the movie, the law student wrapped her life in France and headed back to Hollywood with him. George called Celine his petite copine for three years before they split.

In 2007 George began dating cocktail waitress and former 'Fear Factor' contestant, Sarah Larson. The attractive couple (we would expect no less) was a staple stunner on the red carpet even when Sarah was sporting crutches along with her gown. The pair was struck by a car while riding their motorcycle in New Jersey. But just a year later, after the violent fender bender that should have brought the two closer together, George put one more beautiful fish back in the sea.

Although he purchased an Italian mansion in 2002, George didn't have to buy the affection of Italian model and actress Elisabetta Canalis, who is 18 years his junior. In the summer of 2009 the two took their relationship public when Elisabetta began accompanying the silver fox to his red carpet events. The couple remained on solid ground for more than a year as rumors of George finally being ready to give marriage a second go began to circulate. But in January 2011, George took to 'Piers Morgan Tonight' to announce that he plans never to marry again. Elisabetta was apparently clued in to this fact along with the rest of the world.

Although we don't see George going back on his vow to keep his bachelor days alive, it does seem like he has finally found his life partner in Elisabetta. But if not, we have a feeling George won't have a hard time finding the next equally beautiful Mrs. Clooney wannabe.

Rep Denies Lisa Marie Presley 'Collapsed' Due to Dangerous Dieting

A publicist for Lisa Marie Presley is slamming a dramatic tabloid report which alleges that the King of Rock 'n' Roll's daughter is suffering a medical crisis due to extreme weight loss -- and that the Church of Scientology is stepping in to help her.

Presley's rep tells People.com, "It is absolutely and completely untrue....The Enquirer puts Lisa on the cover every few months with manipulated photos and horrendous stories of supposed 'meltdowns,' and has since she can remember."

The cover story claims Presley, 42, has lost more than fifty pounds in the last five months and that earlier this month, she consequently "collapsed" in England, where she resides with her 49-year-old husband, Michael Lockwood -- the end result being a flight to the U.S., where the tabloid says she was rushed in order receive Scientology-based treatment.

On Friday, her rep called the story "absolute garbage."

"She is happy and healthy, and working hard" in California on her fourth album, according to the spokesperson.

The reports of a health-related meltdown seem to have started after Presley and Lockwood were spotted strolling in Los Angeles with their twin daughters earlier this month. Last year, Presley relocated with her family to an 11-bedroom mansion near Kent, not far from the onetime home of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard in West Sussex. The mom of four -- infamously married to Michael Jackson from 1994 to 1996 -- sold her Los Angeles home in November after reportedly deciding to live permanently in Britain.

Of her fascination with the U.K., Presley once told Hello! magazine: "The civility, the culture, the people and its beauty have reawakened me, and have smoothed out some of my bleak and jagged views about people and life....I can honestly say that I am the only person who came to England for the weather. I love the cold and the rain."

John Forte Takes His Brand Global

You know the name John Forté. You may know it from his past work with the Fugees in the '90s. (He co-wrote and produced two songs on the group's multi-platinum album 'The Score,' and Wyclef Jean produced his first solo album in 1998.) You may have heard his name in 2008 when President George W. Bush gave him a very last minute pardon from prison, where he was on year seven of a much-disputed 14-year sentence for drug possession and intent.

If you've become a fan of Forté recently then you may have downloaded one of his 60 new songs off of OkayPlayer.com or seen one of the nearly 100 live shows he has performed in the past two years. It would be an understatement to say Forté is making up for lost time. But starting next month he is straying from the beaten path of how fame gets made and taking his brand global, to Russia for nine weeks: to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Ekaterinburg and cities along the Trans-Siberia Railway in Siberia that you've never heard of.

In the crazy economic climate of today's music industry this "new business model" makes sense. Amid an era of lackluster record sales, Forté wants to do more than sell music. This tour, 'From Brooklyn to Russia With Love,' will be a multimedia venture that includes albums, a documentary and merchandise.

"We're going to have lots of ancillary products as a result of this trip: a live album, a studio album and a DVD of the live performance which will be its own movie. We will have a documentary which chronicles before, during and after this experience," Forté explained to PopEater. "The traditional model of promoting an album in an 18-month-cycle wasn't what we wanted. I would actually like four or five albums out at the same time around the globe."

But he's also offering his music for free.

"I have music on iTunes, but I am just as content releasing music at 2 in the morning from my living room because I can, and offering it for free and encouraging people to share it," Forté continued. "I know people under the age of 27 aren't buying music. Some of my contemporaries would say they are stealing it, but I know they think they are sharing it."
To make this tour possible, Forté has partnered with his friend and former Exeter classmate
Christophe Charlier, deputy CEO of Onexim Group and chairman of the Board of the
New Jersey Nets, who has been living and working in Moscow for the last 13
years.

"Like most things in my life, this one began with a conversation. I ran into an old buddy of mine from high school, and he said you should come to Moscow. I said, OK but I don't want to stop there, and what began as soup and salad turned into the continuation of my current business model, which isn't about selling music -- it is about getting on the ground and scoring a lifestyle."

To make up for lost time, for albums that could have been released, tours performed and a fan base won and lost, the artist needs to leverage his network.

"I have to leverage the network. When I was away in prison, friends of mine and people I respect and came into successes in their own right and now they are willing to introduce me to their circles and networks, and I think it is a question of synergy," Forté said, adding that before he went away to prison his potential business model was way different.

"It was about mass marketing and mass producing and mass appeal. When real life hit me and hit me hard it gave me something worth talking about."

The new approach to the fan base is smart, though risky. There is something to be said for building a loyal fan base through grassroots marketing and glad-handing. It worked for Barack Obama. And as pop stars continue to be flashes-in-the-pan, making a million dollars and then fading into obscurity or the secondary market of fame-reality television, Forté looks to be crafting a premium brand.

"I truly believe that the more the fans are invested, the more they will support the artist by purchasing merchandise and ultimately albums and DVDs," Forté said. "I think people support what they love."

Yum-O? More like, Uh-oh! Rachael Ray is eating crow after repeatedly saying she'd never appear on ABC's 'Dancing With the Stars' because she wouldn't be caught dead in one of the hit show's typically revealing costumes.

As it turns out, Randall Christensen, the Emmy-winning wardrobe designer for 'DWTS' since 2006, had to write to the perky daytime host and practically demand that she make amends.

Ray, to her credit, reads Christensen's message (in which he asks, "Do you have any idea how hard it is to sit and hear you talk about my work that way?") aloud in the following clip. And she immediately tries smoothing over his perception that she has been bashing his designs.

"I was never trying to offend you," Ray says. "Or any of the great people that work with you, to produce such beautiful costumes. They're amazing, and they do, in fact, make everyone on the show look fabulous." She adds that her aversion to wearing 'DWTS'-style fashions really stems from insecurities she has with her own body image. Watch Rachael Ray apologize after the jump.

Ernest Borgnine Accepts SAG Lifetime Achievement

To accept the Screen Actors Guild award for lifetime achievement was perhaps far more glamorous than Ernest Borgnine’s most famous character — the humble butcher Marty Piletti — could have possibly dreamed.

And for the 94-year-old Borgnine, it was a moving moment when he took the stage to a standing ovation at Sunday night’s SAG Awards.

In a still-continuing career that included such movies as “From Here to Eternity,” '‘The Wild Bunch,” '‘McHale’s Navy” and so many more, Borgnine rarely failed to put a charge of humility into his work.

How fitting it was that the actor who personified humility in his Oscar-winning performance in 1955’s “Marty” would take the opportunity of the lifetime achievement award to remind his colleagues ofthat quality.

“There are millions of those in the world who would love to be in our shoes,” said Borgnine. “We are a privileged few who have been chosen to work in this field of entertainment.”

He added: “I hope we will never let our dedication to our craft fail.”

His words washed touchily over the crowd.

Borgnine, a World War II veteran, is still acting. He provides the voice of Mermaid Man in the Nickelodeon cartoon “SpongeBob SquarePants” and he made a cameo in last year’s action film “Red.”

“Comedy is just part of this man’s wonderful career,” said his “McHale’s Navy” co-star, Tim Conway, who introduced him Sunday.

Morgan Freeman, who appeared with him in “Red,” presented a misty-eyed Borgnine the award, pronouncing the old adage: “Life is what you make of it.”

Betty White Follows Lifetime Achievement With SAG Win

A year after Betty White received the Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement award, she was back, taking home another statuette.

The 89-year-old White was honored Sunday for outstanding actress in a comedy series for her performance on TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland.”

“I cannot believe this,” said a genuinely shocked White, after being helped to the stage by presenter Jon Hamm. “They got the old broad up those stairs — and that’s not easy.”

She added that the award was “the biggest surprise I’ve ever had in this business.”

It was a fitting win for White, whose recent comeback began at the SAG Awards. Her speech a year ago — in which she exhibited great comic timing and playful quips with presenter Sandra Bullock — was a huge hit. Afterward, a Facebook campaign was launched urging that she host “Saturday Night Live.”

She eventually did, in May, leading to an audience of 12.1 million for “SNL” and, later, an Emmy award for White. In December, Associated Press members voted her the AP Entertainer of the Year.

Back at the same podium that helped launch her unlikely late resurgence, White proved that another year hadn’t dulled her sharp wit. While speaking, she slyly ran her hand over the (particularly revealing) statuette, cooing, “ooh.”

The crowd roared.

Jesse Eisenberg: Meeting Mark Zuckerberg Was ‘Wonderful’

Jesse Eisenberg experienced two memorable “firsts” over the weekend – hosting “Saturday Night Live” and meeting his real-life Facebook doppelganger, Mark Zuckerberg.

So, was the star of “The Social Network” nervous about meeting the man he portrayed – some might say… less than favorably – on the big screen?

“No, it was wonderful,” Jesse told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson on the red carpet at the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles. “I was so thrilled that he agreed to come and do that with me. It was the perfect place to meet for the first time.”

While Andy Samberg (dressed as his Mark Zuckerberg character from “SNL”) joined the duo on-stage during Jesse’s monologue and dubbed the pair’s initial meeting as “awk-Berg,” Jesse revealed it was anything but awkward.

“We were both so overwhelmed to be there. We were both equally nervous to be on live TV,” Jesse explained. “He has such a wonderful sense of humor about the whole thing and so we were just trying to figure out what would be the funniest thing for the show.”

Aside from their quick skit together, there wasn’t much time for Jesse and Mark – who had previously said he had no desire to see “The Social Network” before giving in and taking the entire Facebook staff on a company outing to see it — to interact backstage. However, the thesp said the digital entrepreneur was nothing but gracious – and the feeling was mutual.

“The fact that he would agree to come on ‘Saturday Night Live’ was a testament to his good feelings about the whole thing. We were both so thankful that the other one was so open to working in that way under very unique circumstances,” Jesse added.

In fact, Mark didn’t leave without wishing Jesse a bit of good luck in his bid for another first – his first Academy Award.

“Did he congratulate you on your Oscar [nomination]?” Shaun asked Jesse.

“Yeah,” Jesse revealed. “He was so sweet about everything.”

Clarke Lauds Team Effort in Series Win

Michael Clarke has praised his players for their sudden turnaround following the Ashes after their comprehensive win over England at the Gabba secured an unassailable 4-1 lead. Instead of being overwhelmed by the scale of the Test losses, the limited-overs players have regrouped so quickly that the final two games will be dead rubbers.

"After a pretty tough start to the summer, losing the Ashes, I think it shows a lot of courage for us to come back and play well throughout the series," Clarke said. "I think it was a great performance from the whole group, everyone contributed."

Clarke's 54, his highest score of the series, set up Australia's 249, a total which seemed small until the attack knocked over the tourists' main men by the 26th over. Clarke said the bowling of John Hastings (2 for 35) and Steven Smith (1 for 29) effectively shut down England's chase.

The pair was responsible for ruining England's middle order when the visitors lost Kevin Pietersen, Eoin Morgan and Ian Bell for eight runs and fell to 6 for 105. "John Hastings and Steve Smith probably won us the game with that partnership," Clarke said. "They worked together, certain guys wanted to bowl to certain batters, so they communicated really well and did a great job."

Brett Lee was also impressive early, taking two wickets as England fell to 3 for 22. "Brett has been a wonderful bowler for a long time," Clarke said. "His execution throughout this series has been spot-on, but I think he feels he can get better. He probably feels he's bowling okay at the moment but has work to do before the World Cup - as we all do."

Australia are now in a relatively healthy position heading towards the tournament, which starts in three weeks. The only setback for them came with another hamstring injury to Shaun Marsh, who suffered badly with similar problems last summer.

Clarke said the injury was minor, but Marsh is due to undergo a scan on Monday to determine whether the side requires a replacement for Wednesday's sixth game in Sydney. Marsh is not in the World Cup squad but is the leading contender to replace Michael Hussey if he fails to recover from hamstring surgery.

Boucher Powers Warriors to Last-Ball Win

The first three matches of this season's Standard Bank Pro20 were all decided on the last ball.

On Friday night, the Cobras beat the Titans by five wickets in Cape Town. The Titans chose to bat and their innings started in inauspicious fashion when Blake Snijman was bowled by Charl Langeveldt with the first ball of the match. It didn't affect the batting though because Jacques Rudolph and Roelof van der Merwe repaired the innings with 45 and 65 respectively. Albie Morkel also contributed, his unbeaten 50 off 25 balls, was another statement directed at the national selectors who excluded him from the World Cup squad. The Cobras bowlers were all punished, bar Justin Kemp who took one for 15 in this three overs as the Titans ended on 175 for 4.

The Cobras response started gingerly as Andrew Puttick and Herschelle Gibbs departed for 3 and 26 respectively. Owais Shah helped to stabilise matters with 28 and Richard Levi's 68 set the chase up for a grand finale. Pierre Joubert was the most economical bowler, conceding just 29 runs in his four overs. The Cobras needed 22 runs off the last two overs and 14 off the last one and it was up to big-hitting Justin Kemp to finish the Titans off. He smacked a six and a four off the last two balls to hand the Cobras a nail-biting win.

The Cobras lived by the sword on Friday, and died by it on Sunday where they lost by four wickets to the Lions in Johannesburg. The Lions opted to bowl and did an excellent job in the Powerplay, giving away just 27 runs in seven overs. Levi and Gibbs were both dismissed for ducks while Ethan O'Reilly was the man responsible for keeping it tight and conceded just 22 runs in his four overs. Owais Shah hit three gigantic sixes in his 42, one of which went out of the ground. Justin Ontong was the Cobras' unlikely hero, scoring 56 off 30 and adding much-needed impetus to their line-up. They finished on 155 for 6.

The Lions chase started disastrously and they found themselves on 31 for four after six overs, with Alviro Petersen, Jonathan Vandiar, Neil McKenzie and new signing Gulam Bodi back in the hut. Jean Symes and Zander de Bruyn spent some time rebuilding which meant the Lions innings hit comatose levels. After 12 overs, they were 62 for 4, needing to score at almost 12 runs to the over to win. Symes broke the shackles with a six, the first boundary in 42 balls, and then de Bruyn cashed in and reached his half century. de Bruyn laid the platform but the Lions still needed 19 off the last over. Frylinck, who will play for the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL, hit two sixes and a four off the last three balls to end the match in thrilling fashion for the Lions.

In East London, the Warriors began their title defence with a tense, two-wicket win over the Titans. The Titans were off to a rollicking start and brought up their 50 inside five overs. Rudolph's 58 off 44 balls was the top score of their innings. Justin Kreusch, who took 2 for 23 and Rusty Theron, who took 2 for 31, pegged the Titans back but Henry Davids' unbeaten 50 off 30 balls took them to a competitive 163 for 5.

The Warriors chase looked dead and buried at 65 for 6 in the 10th over. Their big names were out with Ashwell Prince being dismissed for 1, Davy Jacobs for 19 and Nicky Boje for 26. There was one big name left - Mark Boucher. The South African keeper put some serious doubts in the national selectors' minds when he took the Warriors over the line with an unbeaten 60 of 33 balls. Lyall Meyer's 36 off 28 balls was crucial and does not deserve to get overshadowed but will pale in comparison to Boucher's heroics.

Batsmen of the week: Three, sensational finishes that could not be valued any differently means that this week's award goes to the three men who effectively won the matches for their teams. Justin Kemp, Mark Boucher and Robbie Frylinck share this week's title.
